What's Happening This Week?
Hi all! Excited for another awesome week of school with your fabulous students! I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things that I've had a few questions about.
Homework is sent home in a packet every Friday, and is due every Friday. This first week there seemed to be a lot of confusion on due dates, or it took some students a while to settle back into the routine of homework, so we're being fairly lenient on homework from last week! The whole third grade receives the same homework packet, so there should be no differences or surprises from classroom to classroom. Homework is not meant to be torture - it's meant to be a quick and painless comprehension check to see what your student can do on their own outside of the classroom. If they're really struggling with the math or science, it's important for me to know that so I know what to reteach or focus on in the classroom!
As a quick side note, please be checking your student's folder every night for important information or flyers!
I also wanted to clarify my snack policy - I like to take big bulk donations of snacks and store them in the room to serve on an as-needed basis. I try to have snack every day, and every child in my room gets a snack. We've received lots of wonderful donations so far, so thank you to parents that have sent those in!
This week, we will be continuing MClass testing during our ELA block. In addition, to prepare for the BOG we will have this Thursday, September 15th, we will be having two smaller 30-minute practice BOG tests on Monday and Tuesday. This is to get students used to the formatting of the test and the questions and to alleviate any worries or questions they might have. On Thursday, please make sure your child arrives at school on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best!
Finally, Friday we have our first early release day, so please make sure that if your student is going home a different way than normal on early release days, both they know and I know how they'll be going home. It's going to be a great week! :)
What Are We Learning This Week?
