Gifted & Talented Academy
December 2018
We are grateful for the opportunity to learn everyday with your precious children. We hope you enjoy the time with family and friends during this blessed season.
Fifth Grade
Fifth graders have been putting their coding skills to work developing a variety of computer games! They learned how to write scripts for characters, objects, sound, actions, atmospheric elements, suspense, and developed rules for playability and difficulty. So far, we have experienced traditional, puzzle, role-playing and strategy genres with more to come. The end goal is to design and publish a game on Scratch created with their own individual preferences.
In addition, students designed light up Christmas cards using led lights and simple circuits.
They are adorable! Please watch the attached videos below to see a sample of what we have been up to.
Students created and published their own booklet about Roanoke and the thirteen colonies. They've learned so much!
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders have been learning about weathering, deposition, and erosion in science. They researched landforms that are created by slow changes to the earth's surface and constructed models to demonstrate these actions for their class.
Fourth graders created a Texas symbols poster using PosterMyWall.com. They completed their research and wrote an essay to share their knowledge about
one chosen Texas symbol using Google docs.
Third Grade
Third graders have been investigating forces such as magnetism and gravity.
We are having so much fun!
Second Grade
Students created their own Kahoot quiz about graphs for their peers to evaluate and play.
Although it was challenging, our students persevered!
First Grade
First graders wrote their own parts of speech Kahoot game. Great fun ensued!
From all of us reindeer to you and yours,
Merry Christmas!
