Budget Hearing for 2021-2022 Budget Scheduled for Wednesday, May 5
Assistant Superintendent for Management Services, Christine DeMass, along with Superintendent David C. Bills, will be giving a visual presentation to explain the proposed 2021-2022 school budget on May 5, 2021 during the Budget Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library and Via Livestream. The public is invited to attend this presentation.
The Budget Vote will take place on May 18, 2021 so please mark your calendars!

WGHS Decathlon Team Competed at State Level
Last month the WGHS Decathlon Team competed in this year’s remote state competition along with students from Westhill, Tully, and Cazenovia High Schools. (This year, the highest score among all competing alternates also received a medal for each category.)
The following West Genesee High School students received medals:
- Logan Battaglia (10th Grade): 2 Silvers-1 in Music and 1 in Math, 1 Bronze in Literature
- Zoe Orr (11th Grade): 1 Alternate in Economics
- Payton Voss (9th Grade ): 1 Alternate in Science

Mental Health Night for Teens and their Parents: "Help & Hope for School and Pandemic Stresses: Sharing Stories and Strategies"
Please join West Genesee Central School District and Onondaga Free Library online on Tuesday, May 4, at 7:00 p.m. for a webinar on Help & Hope for School and Pandemic Stresses: Sharing Stories and Strategies.
Teens and parents are invited to learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions as well as what steps they should take to find support for themselves or their friends.
Presented by National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Syracuse. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Additional Days Off Because of Snow (or rather lack of....)
Superintendent David C. Bills announced at the Board of Education meeting this week that if we have no additional emergency closing days, our "give back" days will be Friday, May 28 and Tuesday, June 1.
If we have an emergency closing between now and then, June 1 will be reinstated as a regular school day, followed by May 28 if we have a second emergency closing.
2021 Summer Music is Coming!
The music camp opportunities that West Genesee will be offering this summer has been announced. (More information and a registration form will be available on the website in the near future.) Please realize the time of camps, grade levels, and cost of all camps are all projected with the best current information. The dates are firm. The actual final times, grades and cost will be on the enrollment forms later this year.
Kindergarten Registration Continues through April
Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 school year opened virtually on December 1, 2020 and has been extended until April 30, 2021. This will allow our families to register their children from the comfort of their home or office. Please click here to start the Virtual Registration process. This will schedule a telemeeting with you.
When registering, parents should be prepared to upload the following:
- proof of residency (ie. mortgage or property statement or signed lease agreement)
- proof of immunizations
- proof of age
A physical examination is also required and a dental certificate is requested for entry into kindergarten. These examinations should be done up to one year prior to the first day of school. Children who enter kindergarten this fall must be five years of age on or before December 1, 2021.

Update: Free Breakfast and Lunch
The USDA has granted ALL students in the United States FREE breakfast and lunch for this entire school year due to the COVID pandemic. Orders can be placed at: https://westgenesee.nutrislice.com/menu/.
We are Looking for Substitute Food Service Workers!
Looking to work around your child’s school day? You can get your children on the bus and be there to greet them when they get home! We are hiring at both West Genesee CSD and Onondaga Central CSD.
