First Thursday is a Great Marketing Opportunity for your Business!
-Tips From Anthony Istrico, our DRBA "Marketing Wiz"
As First Thursday approaches, and DRBA is gearing up to draw between 2,000 and 3,000 visitors to the Avenue. No matter what your business, you can benefit from this captive audience with a little preparation. Here are a few ideas to help pull the crowds into your business.
1.Get the word out! Announcements and teasers have already been posted on the DRBA Facebook (@visitdelray), Twitter (@visitdelrayva) and Instagram (@visitdelray) feeds. Share those posts on your own social networking channels to help spread the word even further.
2.Use the hashtag! Adding #VisitDelRay to your posts will tie them to our marketing efforts and those of everyone else using the hashtag. This greatly increases your reach, making your posts accessible to a much wider audience.
3. Tag DRBA. If you’re sending out tweets, tag @VisitDelRayVA in your post (or @VisitDelRay on Instagram). We’ll re-tweet it to help you reach more people.
4. Feed the people! People love free food. Put out a vegetable plate and a few bottles of wine to pull people in.
5. Tell us! Let us know what you’re doing so we can include it in our marketing efforts.
6. Partner up! Find another business to cross-promote with, then take advantage of their traffic. For example, a store and a restaurant could partner up, trading coupons to be given to customers at checkout time. Be sure your staff is trained to actively call attention to the partner organization.
Retail Businesses
Although potential customers may be distracted by all of the activity on the avenue, there is still an opportunity for you to make sales. Give them a compelling reason to come in to the store, and encourage them to come back another day!
1. Feature a product or vendor. Pick one of your favorite products and highlight them on your website and social media channels. Be sure to tag the manufacturer in your posts – when they acknowledge them with a “like,” it exposes you to their followers as well, giving you a larger boost.
2. Distribute “come back” coupons. Put a date range on the coupon for next week or next month to get them to come back. It works for Old Navy!
Service Businesses
Even if you deal business-to-business, that doesn’t mean there aren’t potential cu1. Put a date range on the coupon for next week or next month to get them to come back. It works for Old Navy!
Service Businesses
Even if you deal business-to-business, that doesn’t mean there aren’t potential customers walking the Avenue on First Thursday. Remember, anyone out there may have a job that puts them into your customer base. Be ready!
1. Have an open house. Show off what you do to anyone who wants to walk through.
2. Give a short workshop. Showcase your unique business to peak interest and drive conversations.
Restaurants
Restaurants often benefit the most from the additional foot traffic, so be sure to set yourself apart.
1. Have a discounted menu item. Even if you’re just extending your regular happy hour, making it part of the event gives you a new angle for marketing.
