Valedictorian & Salutatorian
We are proud to announce this year’s GVCS valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2021.
Kayci Bigelow, daughter of Jennifer and Bill Bigelow, has been named valedictorian with a cumulative grade point average of 96.55.
Avery Grusendorf, daughter of Holly and Shawn Grusendorf, has been named the salutatorian of the Class of 2021 with a cumulative grade point average of 95.6.

Summer Youth Employment Program
The Allegany County Summer Youth Employment Program gives youth an opportunity to work and earn money during the summer. Youth are placed with local businesses, schools and agencies that can provide work and supervision. Youth work between 14 and 28 hours per week for 6-7 weeks at $12.50 per hour.
Contact either Mrs. Baker (dbaker@genvalley.org) or Mrs. Preston (jpreston@genvalley.org) in the GV Counseling Office to get an application. We can email them to you or you can come pick them up in the office.
Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame
Nominations are due by Friday, April 23 for the Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame.
We are looking for nominations of outstanding alumni of Genesee Valley, Angelica or Belmont. To be considered, alumni must have been graduated for at least 15 years. Contact Maureena Chamberlain with questions at mchamberlain@genvalley.org or 585-268-7906.

A Free Workshop for Families
Parent University: Resilient Families
April 22, 2021
6:00-7:00 p.m.
This session will provide parents and caregivers with a basic understanding of trauma & the brain, and how both impact development and learning. In addition, we will learn about ‘protective factors’ and how specific strategies can help to build resilience in your child(ren).

Seniors of the Week
Elizabeth Bentley
Elizabeth has attended the New Visions Program at the CTE Center at Belmont for the past two years. She plans to attend Daemen College in the fall for Physical Therapy and hopes to eventually earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.
At GV, Elizabeth has participated in track, soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming, yearbook, student government, prom committee, jazz band and marching band. Outside of school Elizabeth has played AAU basketball and provided daycare for a high-needs child. Congratulations, Elizabeth!
Avery has served as Vice President of her class for all four years of high school. She has been a member of NHS, Ski Club, FBLA and LOTE. She has played on the GVCS softball and soccer teams, and also served as captain for both the girls and boys varsity volleyball teams.
Avery’s musical involvement includes select choir, concert band, marching band, and a role in the musical, “Newsies.”
Avery is still contemplating her plans for next year; she hopes to eventually become a doctor specializing in women’s health.
