Real champions don't just win, they win with good character, kindness, and humility. Real champions are noble. They understand that the people in the competition are more important than the competition itself. They understand that their attitude during the competition is more important than whether they win. We will be talking this month about what it means to be a noble blue jay champion.
Unseen Treasures - In life it is easy for us to enjoy something great and miss our opportunity to thank those who made it happen. A school's PTA often works behind the scenes so they can easily be unseen and underappreciated. So pause with me to reflect for a moment. Recently many of our PTA parents worked diligently to pull of Vera Bradley BINGO on April 22nd. They raised an enormous amount of money that will benefit your child and school in so many ways. They were amazing. One way to show your appreciation is to stay "in the know" by reading their monthly newsletter posted in each month's issue of the BJB.
Teacher Appreciation Week is finally upon us! FINALLY! This week we are going to celebrate our teachers wildly. Why? Because they deserve it and we know it. We love our teachers, and love to show that appreciation. Use the Teacher Appreciation Week Cheat Sheet below to help you show your teacher how much you appreciate their knowledge, care, and diligence.

Nurse's Notes
As the weather begins to warm up, we spend more time outside. Sun exposure is healthy for our bodies, but too much unprotected exposure to the sun’s UV rays can cause skin damage (i.e., sunburn).
Here are ways to protect your skin:
· Wear sunscreen with SPF of 30+ (15-30 minutes before going outdoors)
· Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours
· Use water resistant sunscreen while in water
· Cover up skin with long sleeves
· Take breaks from the sun, stay in the shade!
Ways to relieve a sunburn:
· Apply aloe vera gel
· Rehydrate skin with moisturizing cream
· Take a cool bath https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/sun-safety.html
MCAP Testing
The administration of the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) assessment will begin May 4, 2022 and continue through the first week of June. The MCAP assessments are part of the state instructional program and students are required to participate.
The assessment corresponds with what your child has learned in the classroom. Although students are not expected to prepare outside the classroom, it is important to ensure they are well-rested and ready on the day of the test. Perfect attendance during the testing period is critical. Please ensure that your child is here every morning by 9:05AM.
