Eagle View Middle School's Eagle Singers will perform the National Anthem at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, as part of the 107th Pennsylvania Farm Show. You can tune into the PA Farm Show's Facebook page - www.facebook.com/PAFarmShow - to listen live.

Students from throughout the District are representing CV during the 107th annual Farm Show this week. A few of the many highlights include:

• First-year FFA students earned their blue jackets as part of the Pennsylvania FFA Mid-Winter Convention. Congratulations to Emma Abramson, Irem Akgul, Ava Anderson, Moxie Barrow-Somers, Jesse Culley, Colby Ebersole, Charlie Grove, Oliviah Jones, Necla Karaca, Alexander Korin, Chloe Myers, Mason Newhart, Cooper Umbrell, and Presley White.
• These 13 students were among only 410 recipients from across PA to be named a 2023 Keystone FFA Degree recipient: Grace Brammer, Shelby Davis, Kaylee Glover, Alexis Hamilton, Alyvia Henneman, Casey Huss, Jocelyn Kunec, Nathaniel Marquart, Jacob Smith, Emma Steinkamp, Gerald Steigleman, Thea Thomas, and Hunter Weis. Congratulations!
• CV students completed a Landscape and Window Display, which you can check out throughout the week.
• Many students around the district are exhibiting market animals and participating in the Farm Show in other ways throughout the week.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Nick McMillen, who was recently sworn in by The Honorable Magisterial District Judge Kathryn Silcox as the newest member of our school police department. Officer McMillen joins Officers Chad Shifflet and Jim Lynam of CVPD in partnership with our School Resource Officer, Hampden Township Police Department, Middlesex Township Police Department, PA State Police, and Silver Spring Township Police Department.

Cumberland Valley High School Musical Productions proudly presents Beauty and the Beast April 26-30, 2023. Mark your calendar now as ticket sales open on February 6, 2023. The Eagle Foundation will host the 25th annual recognition dinner on Sunday, April 16th and needs your help in selecting the Commitment to Excellence recipient, the highest honor bestowed at the event. Those eligible: administrators, alumni, coaches, staff, students, teachers and volunteers having a current or past connection with the Cumberland Valley School District (CVSD).

Selection criteria: the award will be given annually to an eligible person who, through demonstrated excellence in actions or achievements, deserves recognition as a role model for the CVSD community.

Congratulations to Cumberland Valley High School junior Jill Jekot, who earned her 1,000th career point during Friday's basketball game vs. Central Dauphin. She is one of only 11 CV athletes to join this club (three of which are her older sisters). Fun Fact: Our current girls basketball coach, Mr. Bill Wolf, has coached all four Jekot sisters - Jill, Julie, Kelly, and Katie.

Cumberland Valley School District's transportation contractors are now hiring bus and van drivers throughout the district. As a bus/van driver, you will enjoy flexible, part-time hours, provided in-house CDL training, and the ability to bring your child on the bus with you. In addition, our contractors provide a safe and fun work environment while our students provide lots of love and heart.

Whether it's one athletic team cheering on another team or it's a group of friends championing each other at a sporting event, concert, or academic competition, we love the support our students show to one another. They are kind, they are caring, they are empathetic. They are a Portrait of an Eagle! #CVproud

At the School Board meeting on Monday, January 9, 2023, the Pennsylvania School Boards Association honored Mrs. Heather Dunn, Board president, with a Certificate of Appreciation for 8 years of service.

PSBA established the Honor Roll of School Board Service as a way of thanking individuals who exemplify leadership by giving unselfishly of their time and talents for the betterment of the public schools serving students across the Commonwealth. When school directors reach eight years of service, and every four years thereafter, they are presented with an Honor Roll certificate.

Thank you to Mrs. Dunn and all of our school directors for giving of their time and talents for the betterment of our school district.
