Preparing for College & Careers Day
October 30, 2019
What is Preparing for College & Careers Day?
This day, which typically has been dedicated to administering the PSAT to all 10th & 11th graders, will now be expanding to offer programming for 12th graders. BHS seniors will be selecting from 2 options to explore or confirm their post-secondary plans. Students will either visit a college campus or complete a job shadow experience on this day. If a student does not complete and return this form or chooses not to participate in one of the two options provided, they will be attending school that day. Students who do not participate with a college visit or job shadow will go through a number of different college and career preparation sessions and service learning opportunities with our Team staff at BHS.
The electronic form MUST be signed by a parent & submitted by October 11, 2019.
If students do not have a completed form turned in by October 11,
they will be required to attend school that day.
*Students who select the ‘College Visit’ or ‘Job-shadow’ option will not be documented as absent; this day is intended to be an additional day to explore or confirm post-secondary options outside of the high school building; students are responsible for their own transportation
**For students who select either a ‘College Visit’ or ‘Job Shadow’, this day also does not count towards your 2 approved college/career exploration visits for the year; therefore, this is essentially a bonus visit you can take.

Letters of Recommendation
If a student needs a letter of recommendation, it needs to be requested through Naviance at least 1 week in advance of when it is needed. Counselors and Team members are unable to accommodate last minute letters with 600+ students in the cohort. We love to write letters and provide the recommendations for students, but they each take time to do. Please encourage your student to plan ahead and ask early!
