Sandwich High School News
January 2021
Greetings, SHS Community.
I hope everyone had a fantastic and restful break, but finally 2021 has begun and we are raring to go. As you know, we are still remote learning, but we are currently scheduled to be back January 19 with our hybrid in-person model (A/B schedule).
Be advised that the district calendar has changed for the second semester. You can find the revised calendar on the district website: www.sandwich430.org
As we begin this semester, please remember the following:
- Sign in to the attendance google classroom and do attendance daily.
- For the students enrolled in the hybrid model, make sure to check all of your google classrooms every day.
- Work on class readings and activities at a steady and consistent pace to avoid falling behind.
- Communicate daily with your teachers and take advantage of your teachers' availability.
- If you are enrolled in Edgenuity, please log on and start now.
- Staff are working from school and can be contacted through email or by calling 815-786-2157.
We return to school on January 19 with our B-Day schedule and January 20 with our A -Day schedule. Note that January 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will be a non-attendance day.
Mr. Sodaro
E-Learning Days for "Snow Days"
While students, staff and families have been engaged in full remote learning, we all know there is no substitute for in-person learning. We also know that the winter weather in the Midwest can be somewhat of a hindrance when traveling to and from school.
In the future, when in-person learning is scheduled whether it is A/B days or “back to normal”, using an e-learning day will be considered should there be inclement weather.
Since Sandwich CUSD #430 is now 1:1 and students and staff are familiar with remote learning, please be prepared, on a daily basis, to shift to e-learning on so-called “snow days”.
Please note, this will require everyone taking the responsibility of having their school issued personal device available for use at all times. Unlike previous years, e-learning days do not need to be made up at the end of the school year. Once decided, e-learning days will be communicated via the district webpage and school messenger.
Payment of School Fees
Sandwich School District offers online payment of fees through the Tyler Parent Portal. We encourage you to take advantage of this convenience. You can click on the Tyler Parent Portal on the district website to access your child's account and pay any outstanding fees.

Free Meal Pick-Up
Until the end of the calendar year, free food is available through the USDA's "Free Meals for Kids" program. During our adaptive pause from blended learning, our process for ordering and picking up meals will change. Each week, you will need to fill out a meal order form by Wednesday at noon for the NEXT week. Meals will be picked up Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00 am behind Sandwich Middle School.
Meal order deadlines during the adaptive pause:
- Jan. 6 at noon
Starting the week of Jan. 18, we will return to ordering food using the same process that was in place prior to the adaptive pause.
Please click on the link "Food Order Form" below.
