Principal P's Friday Message
March 31, 2023
A Message from Principal P
Dear CMS Families,
I am writing this week's Friday Message feeling the sadness and stress we all feel every time we hear of another tragic event occurring in one of our schools. I want to reassure you not just as the principal of CMS but as a parent that I take the safety and welfare of your children as seriously as I do for my own children.
As Superintendent Bill's reminds us in his newsletter today, we have safety measures in place that include an officer in every building. At CMS, Officer Tim Macholl works closely with the administration and our staff to ensure the safety of our students.
In my Friday Message to staff today I reminded them of all the good they do every day for our students. I want to share this same message with all of you as a reminder that your children are taken care of by trusting and caring adults.
Here is what our CMS staff provides students everyday.
Comfort
Compassion
Empathy
Guidance
Safety
Reassurance
Encouragement
Confidence
Second Chances
Structure
Knowledge
Curiosity
Voice
We provide all of this and more without thinking twice about it because we are all in education for the same reason, we care about all kids. We see them at their worst and at their best. We never give up on them or deny them what every child deserves, genuine caring and love.
I wish every family a safe and amazing April break.
Better Together,
Ms. P

CMS Updates and Reminders
State Testing is Approaching
Please remind students to charge their Chromebooks every night and over the weekend. We are seeing an uptick in students either forgetting their Chromebooks at home or bringing them in uncharged. Once the library runs out of extra Chromebooks to loan out for the day, students will be unprepared for classes and may not be able to access the materials needed to complete their classwork during class.
How to obtain student work due to absence
If a student is out 2 days or more, please email teachers prior to 10:30 and work will be emailed. If anything needs to be picked up, teachers will let you know and the work can be picked up in the front foyer between the doors anytime between 3:00 PM- 5:30 PM.

This month we celebrate Women's History Month
Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
