Conrad October Update
October 1st, 2022
Upcoming Reminders and Events
Hello Fall!
Welcome Owls!
Hard to believe we are already into October. Our students have grown so much already. They have enjoyed our first unit on studying trees. The classroom teachers have had so many wonderful activities for our Owls to engage in. If you do not already, please follow our Facebook page to see updates and activities around our school. Remember, on the first of each month, the students switch playgrounds! If you were picking up on the west playground in September, you will now pickup on the east playground and vice versa! (Look for your classroom teachers and signs).
A few other reminders:
Siblings or children not enrolled as a student at Conrad:
Siblings and other children are NOT allowed to visit the classrooms during regular school day sessions due to licensing regulations, ratios, potential health concerns, and disruptions to the classroom environment. Please note that this includes the following situations: birthday celebrations, holiday events during the school day, volunteer activities, etc. Additionally, this is relevant for unenrolled children of all ages - including infants and children in strollers/carriers.
Siblings are welcome to attend outdoor events during the school day (field day, etc.) as well as after-school events such as Family Nights.
To ensure safety of all students, staff, and families: please, no dogs on school property during pick up/drop off times. Remember to use the crosswalks and keep your child close to you in the parking lots.
From the office of Nurse Sheena:
As we move into the fall season, we anticipate an increase of cold and flu symptoms. Please continue keeping sick children at home to prevent the spread of infection. Remember, students need to be vomit, diarrhea, and fever free for up to 48 hours without the use of medication to safely return to school. If you have a concern for COVID, we offer free Rapid COVID testing to students and household members. Please contact nurse Sheena to schedule a time and date. Please remember, it is not recommended to test on day one of symptoms because this could produce a false negative test.
To help ensure the safety of staff and students, the following practices are in place:
Any individual who tests positive for COVID must isolate for a minimum of five days.
If all symptoms have subsided on or before day five, the student can return to school on day six if they are able to safely and consistently wear a mask through day 10.
If unable to safely and consistently wear a mask at school, the student will need to stay out for the full 10-day period.
If the student still has symptoms on day five, they should isolate through day 10, or longer if symptoms aren’t significantly improving.
If an individual in the household has tested positive for COVID, please notify nurse Sheena for more information.
We have another busy month coming up. Please see below for our month at a glance. However, here are some highlights to mark on your calendars for October:
Touch-A-Truck Family event 10/4 (schedules will be posted on website)
Parent/Teacher Conferences 10/10, 10/11, & 10/12 (link coming Monday)
Storybook Character/Halloween parade and fall festival 10/28 (schedules will be posted on website)
Reminder, we visit the library on Wednesday's. Students have an opportunity to listen to stories, as well as check out library books for the week! If you would like to be a Wednesday library volunteer, please visit our website under the PTO tab. Books are due back on the following Tuesday.
We are continuing with our Creative Curriculum unit on "Trees". Each unit runs for approximately 6 weeks. Please continue to talk to your child and encourage them to tell you what they are learning about trees, and make those connections at home too! Here at Conrad, we all believe in each and every student. Please, reach out if you have any questions in regards to the upcoming events!
In Service of All,
Laura Browning
