LEARN
Practice counting and number skills at home!
For early learners, start with numbers 1 - 5. Draw 5 horizontal lines across a sheet of paper, number each section 1 - 5. Next, draw a caterpillar face like shown in the picture. Have your child make the correct number of bodypart fingerprints for each number. You can help guide your child's hand, saying the count each time a finger print is made. This is called one-to-one correspondence, and helps your child develop an understanding that each number represents a set quantity. Challenge your child to make the correct number of body parts for his/her age.
For older children, practice counting by 2's, 5's and 10's with each fingerprint body part representing the skip counting (2, 5, 10, etc) you are working on.

Use stamp pads, water-based paint, or even pudding to make your fingerprints.
If you have different colors available, practice simple patterns - alternating fingerprint body part colors (red, blue, red, blue). After your child grasps this concept, you can make the pattern more complex; red, blue, blue, red, blue, blue.
No fingerpaint at home? Try this simple recipe from pantry staples to make your own fingerpaint.

WIC Program Updates
"The safety and health of your family is the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Program's top priority during the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). To protect all families and staff, your local WIC clinic may be closed, may have changed its hours or may be providing remote assistance. To learn more about these changes and to get answers to common questions, such as how to contact your local WIC office or obtain breastfeeding support, please review the WIC FAQ Document", linked below.
