Famous last Words

by: Katie Alender

recently, it seems like she is seeing things. Like dead bodies in her swimming pool , scribbled messages on her walls, and a reflection that's not her own. It seems like someone, or something is trying to figure out a way to communicate to her...

Main conflict:

There's a killer in Los Angeles, a killer who reenacts famous movie murder scenes. Willa has strange visions, she's wondering if the visions may have something to do with the unsolved murders. Her friend Marnie might not be as trustworthy as she thinks. There is Reed, the cute one, who gets Willa. Then there is Wyatt who is really smart but is kinda obsessed with the Hollywood Killer. All Willa knows is she has to find out who the killer is or else she might just lose her mind.

I was so hoping from that fun cover to the alluring synopsis that this would be a paranormal read. Something all about ghosts and all things that go bump in the night.

The first chapter was good, definitely piqued my interest, but the second chapter, the second chapter had me already craving more.

I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did. In short, this was just a whole lot of fun, a little creepy, a little mysterious, and just unputdownable.

Willa was relatable, real, and although she was going through a tough time, I liked her. I liked that she wasn't perfect and that she had problems and issues and I liked even more that it wasn't always easy to tell if what Willa saw and heard at night was real or just all in her head.

For once I liked that this book wasn't focused on a romance, although there is one, sort of, it didn't really matter because what really mattered, was the serial killer running lose in Hollywood, and the disturbances that were happening at home with Willa. The romance never took away from the story but instead just added another layer of depth that was comforting and nice like a nice pair of fuzzy socks in the winter.

Overall, this was a great mystery, action packed and kept me on my toes. I will definitely be checking out the author's other books to make sure I have them.

My review:

I really liked the book "Famous last words" because the mystery in the book made me want to keep reading. I have not read any other books by this author (Katie Alender) before but I was really impressed with this novel so I will definitely check out more books by her. My favorite part about this book is how mysterious and frightening it is. When reading this book it feels like you are in the novel, it seems like you are in a completely different place when you are reading, the more you read the more in depth you feel with this book. The only thing that I would change about the book is the detail, she worded the book perfectly but I feel like if there was more detail the book, there would have been more suspense in the novel. Katie Alender is a great author so I would rate this book an overall 4 out of 5 stars.
