A Note From Ms. Frehner

Happy Fall!

I cannot tell you how excited I am that today marks the autumnal equinox (that's a super fancy phrase for the transition from summer to fall)! Like Amaris, Jaiden, Quinn, and Emily in our class, autumn is my favorite season. I love when the weather begins to cool down and all the time I get to spend with my family during the holidays.

This week you can expect to get a kmail from me with your ACT Aspire username and passwords. There are four assessments students will take (English, Reading, Math, and Science), and, unfortunately, ACT has given a different password for each assessment. The good news is that the username will be the same for each assessment though! I will try to send this information in as organized a way as possible to help alleviate any frustration that may arise.

These ACT Aspire assessments are SO important! They allow me to see how you are performing right now as a 4th grader and helps me find out how I can help you best. Because I want to know how YOU are performing, it is important that you are completing the assessments on your own (no help). Please make sure you complete all four assessments no later than October 3rd. I would recommend using some of your Friday time to work on these assessments.

Tutoring groups will begin this Friday, so please look out for a kmail from me letting you know when I would like to work with you this Friday at the Centennial Hills library. The last hour of tutoring will be open tutoring, meaning anyone can come in for help in their OLS courses. If you are interested in open tutoring, please fill out THIS form so I can prepare for you.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, please kmail me or give me a call at (702) 407-1825 x7055.

Make it a great week!

Did you know that right now as we are heading into autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, those in the Southern Hemisphere (like Australia and New Zealand) are heading into spring? What?! How does that happen? Check out the video below to learn a little bit more about the Earth's seasons.

8965 S Eastern Ave

Las Vegas, NV

Our Family Literacy Night will take place next Tuesday, September 30th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Nevada Virtual Academy office located at 8965 S Eastern, Ste 330. I would love to see all of you there. At Family Literacy Night you can expect to learn about NVVA's new writing initiative and how to implement the strategies we are using in school at home.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Typing Resource

It is SO incredibly important that you are learning how to type correctly, especially with the SBAC coming up this year (which is computer based and will require a strong typing foundation). I have found a pretty good website that teaches typing skills and is FREE!

Check out TypingWeb.com, and sign up for a free account to keep track of your typing progress.
