SENIOR PICNIC
Seniors spent their last official day of school at the senior picnic at Grafton Lakes State Park!
APHS EARNS STATE RECOGNITION

STUDENTS AWARDED SEAL OF BILITERACY IN FRENCH, SPANISH
Averill Park High School seniors Noora Ahmed and Sophia Morone have been awarded the Seal of Biliteracy in French. Senior Isabella Maddalone has been awarded the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. Read more here.

MHSL AWARDS MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Miller Hill-Sand Lake PTA and Music Department are proud to announce the winner of the second annual Kelsey Kittleson Memorial Music Scholarship! Fourth-grader Kiera Suscietto was selected as the recipient of the award for the 2019-2020 school year, for which she will receive a full-year instrument rental from John Keal Music, as well as additional items needed for instrumental lessons.
THREE TO ENTER MARINE CORPS AFTER GRADUATION
Three high school seniors will be embarking on a journey in the military after graduating from Averill Park CSD. Darren Griffin, Daniel Ryan and Cole Swahlan have each signed on as United States Marines. Good luck, Semper Fi!
CONSTRUCTION CLASS CREATES GARDEN SHED
The brand new garden shed at the high school was designed and built by James Cole's construction class, and was paid for with a grant from the Averill Park Grant Foundation and plant sales from the Horticulture Program.
CREATING SKITS BASED ON AESOP'S FABLES
Students in Ms. Reasor's Third Grade Class at MHSL wrote skits based on Aesop's Fables! They created their own props and costumes, and recently performed their skits for the Kindergarten Students in Mrs. Round's Class.
STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO POSTSEASON ALL-STAR LISTS
With spring sports seasons wrapped up, awards are still trickling in for Averill Park CSD student-athletes. Marissa Nagel was named to an All-State team while Jamie Cocca, Eric Schuman and the girls 4x100 relay team were named to Times Union All-Stars lists. Read more here.
WORD MASTERS WRAP SEASON
Students from Mrs. Guyer's third grade class participated in Word Masters this year! They received a certificate at the end of the season. Word Masters is working with words and their relationships such as synonyms, antonyms and homonyms.
VISITING THE MABEE FARM HISTORIC SITE
Students were able to travel back in time while visiting the Mabee Farm Historic Site. Read more here.
COMPLETING MISSIONS ON ZEARN
Mrs. Nichols’ 2nd grade class finished all 8 math missions on Zearn! Zearn is an online math program that is based on Eureka math. Each math mission has 15-20 digital lessons. Way to go everyone!
FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION
Fall sports registration will be open on the FamilyID website from July 22 to August 5. In the meantime, please schedule your child's physical with his/her primary care physician. Please remember that appointments book up quickly so now is the time to schedule that appointment. Copies of the physical are due to either the APHS or AMS health office by August 5.
SUMMER CAMP FOR MODIFIED VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS
A summer camp for modified volleyball players will be held from Aug. 19-23 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. in the High School Main Gym. Read more here.
