Goodies with Grandparents
The Goodies with Grandparents event is back! In conjunction with our Fall Book Fair, the PTO will host a morning event in which grandparent figures can come to school with their student(s) to participate in a craft, photo opportunity, have a morning snack, and shop the book fair! To ensure that there won’t be too huge of a crowd, we are dividing participation up by the alphabet. Both events will run open-house style from 7:30 am until 8:30 am. Please note that an adult will have to remain with the student(s) until 8:30 am so plan accordingly! See the attached flier for more information.
While your student(s) are with their grandparent figure, it would be the perfect time to volunteer! We have opportunities for setup, during the event, and cleanup for both dates! Please check out the Sign Up Genius for more information: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094DA8A62CA1F94-goodies

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 17th . This is a half day of school with an 11:45 a.m. dismissal. Children are welcome to attend their scheduled time. This is especially helpful in the upper grades. We are hoping to have 100% attendance from our parents. Conferences will be BOTH in person and on Google Meet. Evening conferences are in person.
The Book Fair will be open during conferences. Please stop by the media center and see the great selection of books!
LOST AND FOUND
Fall is upon us and so is the cool weather. Please make sure that your child’s sweatshirts, sweaters, and jackets have a name on the label so that they can be returned to them. If you are missing something, please have your child stop by the lost and found by the cafeteria. Every effort is made to locate owners. Items not claimed prior to Thanksgiving recess will be removed and donated to charity.
SCHOOL HOURS

Children can only thrive in school if they are present in school. Listed below are our definitions of and policies pertaining to attendance.
Absence—any day that a student misses school.
Late arrivals - After 9:30am the student will be marked absent for the morning.
Early Dismissal - before 2:30pm in the afternoon the student will be marked absent for the PM.
Excused Absence—Any medically documented absence, funeral days, or court will not be counted against the student.
Excessive Absences:
If a child accumulates 10 absences in a school year, the building administrator will send a letter to inform the parent/guardian
If the child reaches 15 absences in a school year the building administrator will inform the local police department of a potential truancy issue.
The police department will then contact or visit the child’s home to discuss the truancy with the parents.
If the absences reach 20 in a school year, according to law, referrals must be made to the Local Police Department and possibly, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
*Parents are encouraged not to take their children out of school for vacations. Vacation days are considered unexcused.
TARDIES—arrives late or leaves early from school and missing LESS than 55 minutes of school time
