14 THINGS TEACHERS SHOULD NEVER DO ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Quick Rubric, a marvelous resource
Webjets: Versatile multimedia boards for organizing and sharing
Webjets is a website that supports visual thinking and brainstorming. It’s highly visual and allows you to organize your ideas onto cards.
You can share your Webjet with another collaborator or publish it as a view-only website.
To use Webjets, create a free account at the Webjets website. This will entitle you to 200 cards and two collaborators. Educators can click here to request a free education upgrade.
In Your Classroom
- Webjets is the perfect way to provide links for your students in a fun, visual, and easy-to-navigate format.
- Use Webjets to collaborate with others. For example, if you are working with other teachers on creating a Purim carnival, share a Webjets board with them to collect ideas for games, decorations, and food.
How Google Forms can be used for creating formative tests and quizzes
Russell Stannard just released a new video. It shows you how Google Forms can be used for creating formative tests and quizzes. You can create a test using Google Forms and then you can tell Google Forms the answers and write in the feedback. When students do the quiz, they will get immediate feedback and a score. The teacher does not have to do anything. The system also keeps a record of all the students, their scores and how they answered the questions.
In this example, he uses Google Forms for reading comprehension exercise and shows you how to add texts before you set up your questions.
New Feature: Create Stunning Text With Image Fill in Pages and Keynote
Gary from MacMost explains the new image fill feature of text in Pages and Keynote allows you to create some beautiful graphics with very little effort. In this tutorial you'll learn how to create a retro-style postcard image using some of your photos. You can apply a single image fill to all of the text or a separate image for each letter. You can post these graphics online or use them in documents or videos.
Voki: totally forgot about this very cool site
What is Voki?
"Voki is a free collection of customizable speaking avatars for teachers and students that enhances classroom instruction, class engagement, and lesson comprehension."
Clif has a wonderful tutorial and links to lots of student examples from classrooms.
Check out his resources and give Voki a try in your classroom this fall.
Padlet, one of my favorite tools
And while you are there check out Russell's Youtube Channell, he has lots of great training videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKjOFIFE0q71IJ4GFx4brng
