Titan Tidbits-Staff Edition
Volume 2, Week 30: March 23-27, 2020
General Announcements:
As you may have seen, NC just closed schools until at least May 15. At this time we do not have any additional information about how this may affect FMSD. If I hear, I promise to let you know. I have been on two conference calls today with the Principals and we do not have much additional information. As I mentioned, tomorrow will be the last day, indefinitely, that we (including me) will have access to TCES. Please plan to go tomorrow if you need to get anything. The building will be open until 1pm.
Here are some notes from my meeting:
- If you have not communicated to your parents, please let them know the following from Julie's email: Lessons are only supposed to be 20 minutes each. Tell your students that they need to do EITHER science OR social studies each day.
- As far as planning for the future: We are unsure of how long we will be closed. If we are closed, we'd already decided at each grade level who would be responsible for planning each subject. From what I've been told in recent conversations, if eLearning continues past spring break, the emphasis will be on Reading, Writing, and Math with the understanding that science and social can be integrated into plans.
- Paper Packets: With the school being closed starting Wednesday, we do not know how we are going to address the collection of paper/pencil packets AND the distribution of the new.
- State Tests have been suspended, officially!!!
Some happy news to share:
CONGRATULATIONS to Lynn Abercrombie, Lynn was slated to go to KTES next year but has just accepted the role of Lead Teacher at Sugar Creek Elementary here in Fort Mill!!! We are elated for Lynn as she begins this new journey!
If you are a certified staff member, you have 2 Choices for the week to continue that positive Titan Community spirit-participate in at least 1:
1.) You can send me a picture of you from your eLearning work station. We will create grids of these pictures to send out to our families!
2.) CLICK HERE to complete a FlipGrid prompt "We miss our normalcy at TCES!" (this could be something you miss about your class, other staff members, waiting in line for the copier, morning duty, etc.) that we will compile the clips together to send out to our families. Please limit this to between 30 seconds and 1 minute (1.5 if you co-create your response... not that we are encouraging anything other than social distancing).
**Please email me your #1 OR respond to #2 by Tuesday at 5pm.
**If you are a classified staff member, please feel free to participate also, the more participation the more TITANtastic!!!
CLICK HERE, to access information about the Fort Mill Foundation Grants-these are due March 27th! If you'd like to attend conferences this upcoming year, please complete. If you need a letter from me to support your grant proposal, I need them by Monday, March 23.

Planning Days for NEW Teams:
We are working on something to begin building the collegiality between our new grade levels... this will go out during or after Spring Break! We will obviously need to reschedule 1st, 3rd, and 4th... we will see what this looks like when we know when we're set to be back in Titan Country!
