Texas Independence Established in 1836
Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. With this document signed by 59 people, settlers in Mexico and Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas.
UK and US jointly occupy Oregon in 1827
The Oregon Treaty is a treaty between the U.K. and the U.S. hat was signed on June 15, 1846, in Washington D.C. Signed under the presidency of James K. Polk the treaty brought an end to the Oregon Boundary Dispute by settling competing American and British claims to the Oregon Boundary; the area had been jointly occupied by both Britain and the U.S. since the Treaty of 1818.
In 1848 Gold was discovered in California.

Trails West Map
Settlers following the Westward ways were spurred by various motives, among them including persecuted Mormons seeking freedom of religion. After the end of the Mexican- American War in 1849, there were many new enticing American conquests. Legislation like the Donation Land Claim and critical events like the California gold rush further incited colonists to travel overland west. The trails were Santa Fe, Oregon and California.
