6th Grade Teacher Spotlight
Meet Mrs. Saldutti!
Mrs. Saldutti is a veteran teacher at Drexel Hill Middle School. Mrs. Saldutti has been a teacher in Upper Darby School District, in Drexel Hill Middle School for 27 years! This is the only work-home she knows and has spent her entire career here. Mrs. Saldutti is a 6th grade special education teacher. Mrs. Saldutti obtained her Bachelor's degree from West Chester University where she studies Special Education. She obtained her Master's degree from Widener University where she studied Elementary Education.
When Mrs. Saldutti is not working with our students, she enjoys spending her time with her favorite people, in her favorite place, at the beach! Mrs. Saldutti has a dog named Daisy, a Jack Russell Shorty, who she describes as her treasure! Daisy is also a big fan of the beach! You'll find her jumping waves and chasing seagulls! Mrs. Saldutti is married with two children, a son and daughter!

7th Grade Teacher Spotlight
Mrs. Severino is a 7th grade English-Language Arts teacher at DHMS. This is her fifth school year in the district. While working for her teaching certificate, Mrs. Severino did her student teaching at Beverly Hills Middle School. Before coming to Drexel Hill Middle School, she spent a year at the high school. She is currently a volleyball and softball coach for DHMS! Mrs. Severino has a bachelor's degree from West Chester University, and master's degree from Wilkes University. She is currently working on a second master's at the University of California in San Diego.
Mrs. Severino was just married in May! She may have taught some of your children in the past that would know her as Ms. Cappella! Mrs. Severino and her husband adopted a 1 year old dog named Bronco this past June. He is the sweetest boy! Mrs. Severino loves to spend time with her friends and family. When she is not at work, you will find her at the beach or reading a good book.

8th Grade Teacher Spotlight
Meet Mr. McDowell!
Mr. McDowell is another veteran teacher here at Drexel Hill Middle School. This is his 26th school year at DHMS! Mr. McDowell started as a 6th grade social studies teacher but quickly moved to math and has been there ever since! He has spent many years in all three middle school grades! Mr. McDowell graduated from Mount Saint Mary's College in Maryland where he obtained his Bachelor's degree. He then went on to receive a Master's degree from Saint Joseph's University!
Mr. McDowell is really into sports! He has coached soccer, basketball and lacrosse for Drexel Hill Middle School. He is also an all sport, Philadelphia sports fan. Mr. McDowell and his family enjoy going to sporting events together in addition to concerts (his favorite music artist is Marvin Gaye!) and going out to dinner! Mr. McDowell has two dogs that him and his family take anywhere and everywhere they can! Fun fact about Mr. McDowell - his favorite holiday is Thanksgiving!

Related Arts Teacher Spotlight
Ms. Cadet is a computers and elective teacher here at Drexel Hill Middle School and teaches all grades. She runs a comic club on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:00. Before starting her second year at DHMS, Ms. Cadet worked at a university for 10 years. She has as Master's degree in business and is currently working towards a second Master's degree in Education.
Ms. Cadet is originally from Haiti and moved to the US when she was 8 years old. As a child, she was identified as an ELL learner. She speaks Creole and English and is currently learning Spanish! Ms. Cadet has two daughters (14 and 8). Ms. Cadet, her husband and daughters love to watch movies and go-kart together. When time permits, they enjoy traveling as a family. Ms. Cadet and her girls share a love for crafting, cooking and baking. Because of the family's busy schedule, Ms. Cadet does not have any pets at this time.

Support Staff Spotlight
Meet Mrs. Dick
Mrs. Dick is new this year to Drexel Hill Middle School but this is her 11th year in Education. Mrs. Dick comes to us with varying experience in different grades. At Drexel Hill Middle School, Mrs. Dick is our English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher. Mrs. Dick enjoys her job because she gets to know students, their cultures and is able to help them improve their skills within the English language. Mrs. Dick attended college in Virginia. She earned her Bachelor's degree from James Madison University and her Master's degree from Marymount University.
When Mrs. Dick is not at school, she loves spending time with her family. Some of their favorite things to do together include traveling, playing board games and watching movies and sporting events! Mrs. Dick and her family moved to the Philadelphia area from Washington D.C. about 10 years ago for her husbands work. One of the things keeping her and her family busy are college visits and applications for her 17 year old son! You may recognize Mrs. Dick as she volunteers in our community! Mrs. Dick and her son actively participate in events with a local food pantry and clothing closet called Grands Stepping Up.
