JSE Tracks

Principal's Weekly News, September 14th

Keeping you informed of all the "tracks" we make at school and in our community!

JSE Monthly Attributes:

Characteristic of a Successful Learner (CSL): Strive for Personal Best

Bucket-Filling Trait: Respect

It's a Marvelous Monday at JSE!

We welcomed the newest member of our family in the 4th grade, a Leopard Gecko. Our 4th grade teachers won a grant for a classroom pet. Thank you to PetSmart! The Gecko will soon be named by a 4th grade vote and weaved into learning many of our academic standards.

Important Items in Thursday's Folder:

Progress reports will come home and additional copy will be sent through e-mail. Parents of 1st through 5th grade students may check student progress anytime through your Harmony Account. I encourage you to view your child's detailed grade information from Harmony and let your child's teacher know if you have any questions. If you need us to e-mail your Harmony username and password information please call our main office. This is an excellent time to discuss progress with your child, review study habits and goals, and encourage your child to continue to "Strive for Personal Best!"

Picture Day is here! Complete the order form and turn into your child's teacher or you may complete the form on-line for more options. You may bring back the order form up until and on the day of pictures, next Wednesday.

We hope to see you for a delicious brownie, a delightful story, and sharing of your child's creative writing on Thursday at 6:30 for Brownies and Books with Mrs. Barnes:) Mrs. Morton will unveil our new library books!

Thank you for all you do each night to support your child!

Leigh Barnes

Notes from our Home School Advisor Mrs. Fields:

We are pleased to have our UTSC elementary schools participate in the Body Safety Program presented by Dunebrook of Michigan City again this year. Detailed information will be included in this week's Thursday Folder. There will be a parent information night at JSE on September 21st at 6pm and the student presentation will be September 24th. After you have had the opportunity to learn of this program, feel free to call us with any questions or concerns. "Children are our nation's great resource; let us all strive to protect them."

Interested in volunteering in a classroom...

Please consider being a Junior Achievement Volunteer for your child's classroom. You will be provided training and all the needed materials. We will work around your schedule and the amount of time you can volunteer. It is a valuable program we would like to continue offering at JSE. Community volunteers are welcome as well, please pass this information on to anyone you believe may be interested. Thank you!

Please call or e-mail Chris Fields our home school advisor for more information and the volunteer form.
