VFE Falcon Family Newsletter
March 2022
Principal Update
Dear Falcon Family,
Welcome to March! It is hard to believe that Friday, March 4 marks the end of the second trimester. Our students are making amazing growth and we know we will have even greater growth throughout the spring. March also brings an opportunity to connect and collaborate at Spring Conferences and celebrate the amazing social-emotional and academic growth our students are making at the Falcon Top 10 assembly. Please check out the newsletter for key information about Kindergarten registration, vision and hearing screening, report cards, conferences, and PurposeFull Family activities.

Spring Conferences March 22-23
Spring Conferences are quickly approaching. While we would like to meet with each and every family, we only have two half-days on March 22 and 23 to hold conferences. Dismissal will be at 11:40 am on 3/22 and 3/23. Teachers will request a conference with families that are new to VFE, or if their student is experiencing learning challenges and may not meet the end of year standards. Teachers will notify families that they need to conference by the end of the day on Monday, March 14. Families may also request a conference. The purpose of the conference is to build connections and partnerships that will help us ensure the learning of each student. It has been a while since many of us conducted an in-person conference. We look forward to connecting with you about your student!
Like in the fall, spring conferences will be held in person at our campus on the afternoon of March 22 and 23. We realize that many parents and guardians may still be at work and Zoom conferences are available upon request. Families that receive a request to conference with their child's teacher will need to sign up for a conference through Family Access. To log into family access, go to www.sumnersd.org, click on Family Access, and log in. The log-in should be the guardian's email. If you don't happen to remember your password or log in, click the reset button. If you have any questions regarding family access, you can call the school at 253.891.4700.
For in-person conferences, please follow all current health and safety guidelines. If you are sick, we ask that you please stay home and request a Zoom conference instead. If you need a Zoom conference, please sign up for a conference time and contact your teacher to set up a Zoom link for that time.
We linked how-to videos for directions on how to schedule, as well as unschedule a conference if you need to select a different time:

PurposeFull Family
During the month of March, Victor Falls Elementary will be talking about Responsibility! The dictionary defines Responsibility in a few ways: fulfilling your duties, being accountable and having consequences, and the independence you can earn to make decisions on your own. All the choices we make impact the world around us in big and small ways. The responsible person works to be aware of this impact and makes decisions based on what is good for as many people as possible. This requires reflection, self-control, and a willingness to take ownership. Students will spend time talking about how to build and use these skills so they can earn more Responsibility in their lives. For further information and activities concerning Responsibility, please click on the following links: K-2 Responsibility Newsletter En Espanol, K-2 Responsibility Newsletter, 3-5 Grade Responsibility Newsletter, 3-5 Grade Responsibility Newsletter En Espanol.
