Christ Child Academy Newsletter

September 7, 2018

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!

Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year at Christ Child Academy. We are excited to be partnering with you for your child's faith and educational development. The first week of school has begun very smooth and the students are excited. It is always great to hear of the many adventures from the summer and observe the re-kindled friendships in the classrooms and on the playground.

There will be fewer carriers sent home this year as we utilize this digital newsletter format.

St. Peter Claver's Septemberfest

St. Peter Claver’s Septemberfest is this weekend, September 7 – 9, beginning with the Fish Fry on Friday evening, September 7. Go and enjoy a fabulous fish fry and those yummy 8th grade desserts! We hope to see you there!

First School Mass of the Year

On Tuesday, September 11th, we will celebrate our first school Mass of the year at 8:25 am. Parents and Grandparents are welcome to join us each week.

Students are to wear their CCA polo shirts with the logo along with dress or Khaki pants or a skirt for the girls. Polo shirts are to be tucked in for both boys and girls. Any additional items such as sweaters or vests must have the CCA logo and be worn over the polo shirt. These additional items are available on the Land's End website. Yoga pants are not to be worn to Mass except under a skirt and in a solid color.

Safeguarding All God's Family

If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Local sessions are being offered on Saturday, September 8 at St. John Evangelist, 600 Green Tree, Kohler from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and Tuesday, September 18 at St. John Evangelist, 600 Green Tree, Kohler from 8:15 - 11:15 am. You must register on-line at and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.

Faye's Pizza Sale

The Faye’s pizzas sale has begun! Faye’s Pizza orders and money are due Friday, September 21st. The pick-up date is Wednesday, October 10th with pick up at 2:00 – 3:30 pm in the gym. The money made on the pizza sale assists in covering the cost of bussing, field trips, Camp Y-Koda, and many more items. Your cooperation will assist in keeping your out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum. SELL! SELL! SELL!

This is also a great opportunity for families to get started on their 20 volunteer hours. We need parents and grandparents to help sort and organize the orders on Wednesday, October 10th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. If you are available, please email or call/text Sarah Richter at or (920) 287-5552.

Picture Day

Mark your calendar; Picture Day is next Thursday, September 20th. Harmann Studios will be taking your child’s picture (no order form or money needed at that time). Harmann sends home a preview of two proofs; you choose one and return the order form with your payment. If need be, picture retake day is Wednesday, October 24th.

MAP Testing

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing will begin Monday, September 24th and continue through Friday, September 28th. MAP is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child’s academic growth. All students in grades K-8 will be tested to track their academic growth. Please do not schedule any appointments for your children during this time. It is important that the students are in attendance and well-rested, so they can do their best on the tests. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank You for the Donations!

Thank you to all the families that generously donated items to the school office and lunchroom. Your thoughtfullness is very much appreaciated!

Coats For Kids

The Christ Child Academy Student Service Council will once again be collecting coats for the Annual Coats for Kids Drive. Any gently used coats, hats, gloves, boots, or scarves can be dropped off in the barrel at the school’s main entrance, now through October 31st. What a great way to help those in our community and teach our children the goodness of giving. Thanks for your support!

Box Tops for Education

CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.

Donations needed for our STEAM program

Throughout the school year, we will be in need of donations of the following items to support our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program at all levels. We will let you know when to begin dropping these off at school. Please start collecting these items.

1. Newspapers

2. Milk Jugs

3. 2 Liter pop bottles

4. Pringles cans

5. Cardboard tubes (wrapping paper, toilet paper, paper towels)
