Some additional news-
Please remember that the parking lot is a ONE WAY ONLY area. ENTER from Shields and EXIT to Orleck. There have been way too many cars trying to go the wrong way and as you can imagine poses a serious safety risk and concern. Also, please remember that the area painted red in front of the stairs is NOT a loading and unloading zone. Too many cars are stopping and letting their child exit the car. That is an illegal spot to stop and poses additional safety risks and concerns as cars then move around them as children are exiting vehicles. Please pull forward and into an actual parking spot to drop off children. Do not block traffic. Be kind and courteous to all families and follow the traffic rules as they are for all. Again, do not stop in the parking lot to drop off your child unless you are in a marked parking spot. We always encourage walking to the site and arriving early to ensure you can follow proper drop off and pick up procedures. We are looking for parent volunteers to support our traffic areas. If interested, please pick up a volunteer application today and note that you would like to support in this area.
We are seeing a surge of illnesses again. Please be sure to keep your child home if they are exhibiting any sinus related issues, sneezing, fever, sore throat, etc. Please call the office each morning to report your child's absence. If your child has a fever they need to be fever free without medications for at least 24 hours before they return to school. We recommend a COVID test (should be negative) before returning to the school. We have free COVID testing kits in the health office for all families if you would like one. Frequent washing of hands, staying home when not feeling well and other healthy ways will help us all get through what is shaping up to be a busy illness season.
If you have not filled out your LCFF bubble sheet a reminder that it can also be done in your Parent Portal in about 30 seconds. It is quick and easy and gets submitted rather than filling out the bubble sheet. We ask that these are completed by Monday. If you do not remember completing it head right into that Parent Portal and complete it today! All of that information gathered helps secure the site money that gets used to pay for extra counseling time, our resource teacher and classroom supplies and materials. Any forms NOT returned loses us a great deal of money in the thousands. Please help complete the form and submit it today!
Halloween-
We are allowing students to dress up on Halloween. Please keep the following things in mind before sending your child out the door-
* No masks or facial coverings that block mouth or eyesight
* No weapons of any kind are allowed
* Children should still be able to do their daily activities of learning, participating in class, recess, PE, lunch, etc. safely and without issue.
* Children should not need assistance with their costume. In other words, can your child still independently go to the restroom with the costume on?
* Costumes should be appropriate for school
We want this to be a fun day for children but they are still responsible for their conduct and behavior. If any child's costume is found to be too much of a distraction from their day they will call home for a change of clothing to be brought to the school.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
