A Peek at Next Week......
Students are coming home with a fun homework packet this week. We are learning all about expository writing. Students will be writing their own "How To" story this week to go along with a small art project included in our packet! Be creative and have fun!
Here's what's coming up next week in 2nd grade...
Reading: We are finishing up our Author's Purpose Unit this week. Students will spend the week practicing identifying different types of Author's Purpose. We will test on FRIDAY, November 17!
ELA: Students have been doing a wonderful job with our adjectives/adverbs grammar study. We will continue to practice this week and test on FRIDAY, November 17! We will begin discussing expository vs. narrative writing and will practice some "how to" writing prompts throughout the week.
Social Studies: We will be continuing our unit about Creek & Cherokee Native Americans. Students have been enjoying making connections to our state of Georgia and the first people who lived in Georgia.
Science: We will begin a new unit on Simple Machines to connect with our previous Force & Motion Unit!
Math:
Ms. P's Math: We will be testing over our Multiplication Unit on WEDNESDAY! Students are coming home with their study guides and should spend some time over the weekend reviewing. VERY IMPORTANT: Keep practicing multiplication facts at home for the remainder of the year! Solving these multiplication facts (0-10) mentally is very important for our upcoming units of division and fractions!
Ms. Bentley's Math: Students are continuing to learn multiplication using different strategies (repeated addition, picture model, array).
Ms. Minor's Math: Testing over the Multiplication Unit on WEDNESDAY! VERY IMPORTANT: Keep practicing multiplication facts at home for the remainder of the year! Solving these multiplication facts mentally is very important for our upcoming units of division and fractions!
Home Visit Program
Home visits are a casual way for your child to spend time with his/her teacher in the comfort of their home. Teachers enjoy having a chance to see children in this comfortable environment, doing whatever makes them most happy and spend time with children and their parents outside of a regular school day.
Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm.
