A Thoughtful Classroom Update
Living and Learning in Third Grade
Nightly Homework
Just a reminder that each night students need to be making time for reading and math fact fluency! Reading can be enjoyed independently or as a partnership! Make sure your child marks the minutes on their 300 minute reading calendar! Math fact fluency needs to be FAST and FURIOUS!! Time your child for 2 minutes to help them move at a fluent pace!
Students have log-ins for Typing Club. This can be practiced at night, as well! It is NOT a requirement, but a fun alternative to playing video games!! We do practice our typing skills 4 days a week during writer's workshop! This practice will help prepare students for the rigor of typing during the PARRC assessment that they take in the spring!
IXL is a great resource for refining math skills. The students know where their strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to our daily lessons. They can use IXL to extend their neuron growth!! This practice for 10-20 minutes a night would make a big difference in their daily work during math workshop!
