Salt Marshes

  • The Temperature stays close to the same but the Temperature is slight cooler because of the breeze towards the coast
  • The outer banks and along the lower coast to about 10 inches in the northern Piedmont and 16 inches in the southern Mountains. Some of the higher mountain peaks and upper slopes receive an average of nearly 50 inches a year.

Environmental Concerns

Between 1950-1970 countless salt marshes were god do to land use.

Salt marshes have so much water that the water floods through storm surges causing a major problem, leading to erosion of the coastal soils and saturation of coral reefs and grasses

There has been laws passed to protect the salt marshes but people still use them as dumping sites and landfills
