Study Trip to Learning Curve at The Central Library

Our class will be traveling to the Learning Curve at the Central Library in Indianapolis on Wednesday, March 9th. The Learning Curve offers a unique blend of digital and traditional programming for students. Interactive activities are aligned with academic standards and incorporate a variety of technology, books, and materials to ensure a dynamic, hands-on learning experience.

Permission slips will be sent home with your child on Monday. The cost of the trip is $4.00. If you have not already done so, please return your child's permission slip and $4.00 fee as soon as possible. Checks should be made to Thorpe Creek Elementary.

If you would like to serve as a chaperone for this study trip, please send your $4.00 payment with your child. If you choose to serve as a chaperone for this study trip, you must ride the bus with our class and have a current background check on file with the office.

Box Tops & Labels for Education: Due Friday

TCE has already collected over 8,000 Box Tops and Labels for Education this year! The winter deadline to turn in Box Tops and Labels for Education was today. Winners will be announced next Friday. The spring contest will continue through May, so please continue to send your Box Tops and Labels for Education in all year! More information will be sent home in your child's green folder. Thank you for supporting our school!

Apps for your Ipad

From time to time I will suggest some apps to download (if your child is bringing a tablet to class). All of the apps will be free downloads. These apps are already on the school iPads. If you could please download the following apps this weekend, I would appreciate it!

  • Doodle Buddy
  • ThingLink
  • Xtra Math (this is actually a website - xtramath.org, but can be saved to the tablet's home screen for easy access in the future)
  • Show Me
  • Qrafter

Yearbook Orders

Yearbook orders are due by March 16. The cost is $16 per book. We encourage you to place an order online: www.inter-state.com/yearbook. Enter code 03573P to place an order. Online orders will be shipped to TCE. Checks should be made out to Thorpe Creek Elementary.

TCE Cardinal Runners

Join our school team and be a Cardinal Runner!

May 21, 2016

The Geist Half Marathon Inc. is an Indiana non-profit corporation organized to inspire health and wellness in the children surrounding Geist Reservoir. Money from last year’s race was donated to HSE and Lawrence Township Schools.

If your child (or you!) would like to participate in this year’s race as a part of the “Cardinal Runners” team, please return the emailed permission slip and race fee by March 28, 2016. Our school team will be walking and running in the 5K (3.1 miles) race. The cost to participate in the Cardinal Runner team is $37.50. Please make checks payable to TCE. The registration fee for the race includes a fee of $7.50 for a “Cardinal Runners” team shirt. Let’s show our school spirit by wearing our Cardinal Runners shirt on race day! *If you have last year’s Cardinal Runner shirt, you can re-wear it. The entry fee is $30, then, without the Cardinal Runner shirt. Each participant also receives a Geist 5K shirt, refreshments at the finish line, and a medal! Additional race information can be found at http://geisthalf.com/. We will register all students and parents that participate on our Cardinal Runners team at one time, so please do not register through the website. If your child may need financial assistance in order to participate, please contact Mrs. Curran.

I will be sending home information in the spring about an optional training walking/running program at school, along with additional race day details. I look forward to running with a large group of the Thorpe Creek Elementary Family!

Cardinal Runners sponsor,
Mr. Clint Cushman
