Principal's Message
Dear Jack London Families,
As summer is around the corner, many questions around end-of-the school year activities:
When is Jack London’s last day of school for 2019-2020?
The last official day of school is Thursday, May 28th. Our 6th Grade Zoom Promotion will be on May 28th at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Dolan, our excellent sixth-grade teacher, is organizing this event. Sixth-grade students will get to logons per student, and families will get to attend their student’s milestones. With our strict Zoom guidelines, we will have a staff member letting families into the Zoom Promotion. Please email Ms. Dolan if you have any questions.
Is Maker Camp happening this summer?
Due to our shelter-in-place, we are canceling Maker Camp this summer. We might get an opportunity to hold one next summer. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
When is Jack London’s starting school for 2020-2021?
Some of you are asking when we will return to school. Our first day of school is August 13th for Piner-Olivet Union School District. What this will look like is still being developed. The Administrative Team is working on formulating options for our community. Once several plans are developed, they will share with staff members; we will be asking for family input. Please stay tuned. We would love to hear your needs and feedback.
When do we have to return our student’s Chromebooks?
For students who will NOT be returning to Jack London Elementary (This includes this year’s Sixth-grade students.) We will have a Drive-Thru drop off on Friday, May 29th, from 9:00-11:00. Please make sure that you bring your Chromebook, power cord, and any other equipment that was issued. Please bring your library books at this time as well. Once we have received your Chromebook, we will give you a bag with your classroom belongings. We will also be returning your donation for Sixth-grade Camp to each family. Sixth-graders at this time will also be issued their Promotion Certificate.
Returning students will be able to keep their Chromebook this summer. We want to continue to encourage our students to log on to their online programs. If you are returning in the fall, please keep your library books, and we will exchange them when we are permitted back on campus.
Thank you, Jack London.
If you have any questions about the end of the year not addressed here, please email Olga Venegas (ovenegas@pousd.org) or call the Jack London Office (707) 522-3030. We are checking messages daily.
We are all in this together!
Ms. Venegas

The Virtual Chamber Music Concert
The members recorded their parts to the click track and sent them in. Parent volunteer Chitrang Davé and Matt have been busy synching up all the videos and Matt will then string them all together into a virtual chamber concert. The final piece on the program will be a virtual world premiere of fanfare for brass and percussion by Michael Murrin which had been commissioned by the SRSYO as part of the 60th anniversary which was supposed to have been celebrated on May 9.
The Virtual Chamber Music Concert will launch on the SRS YouTube channel and Facebook pages on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 PM. Bobby Rogers (SRSYO Conductor) will be hosting on the YouTube channel and Jane Shelly (SRSYO Manager) will be hosting on Facebook.
So please come to the concert and leave comments to cheer on the musicians!
