Registration = Reward
Dyer families,
As we begin looking ahead to August there are a few things we want to let you know about. First, for the 2015-16 school year, our school system has a new, easy-to-use, secure online registration system. This new OLR system will be used county wide and will replace our former registration program. Please note the new OLR system requires a bit more information than our previous registration program.
We are also excited to let you know that we have expanded our Summer Incentive Program! This summer we are asking our students to read for 60 minutes each week and participate in Khan Academy for 30 minutes each week for math practice. For more information about the program, click here.
In an effort to help us get a jump start on the new school year, we are offering an exciting opportunity to our families. Those of you that complete the registration steps below by May 18th, will be notified of your child’s teacher for the 2015-2016 school year via a note in your child’s report card on the last day of school!
- Register your child/children for the 2015-2016 school year by going to registration page on our school website. The page should look like the picture below. If it does not, you may need to refresh your browser. Click on the GOLD box to open the registration page, and then Complete steps 1 and 2. Note: The form for step two needs to be completed for each of your returning students.
- Log onto MyPaymentsPlus where you can make voluntary contributions, and pay for school lunches
- Create an account at Khan Academy to register your child for the math portion of the Summer Incentive Program.
Spring Festival Moved to October:
Happy Spring to all of our parents and students. We want to take a moment and thank you all for an outstanding school year. Our students are excited about what they have accomplished this year and we couldn't be more proud. In order for our staff to focus on preparation for the 2015-2016 school year, our spring festival has been moved to Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5:00pm -8:00pm. In order to serve the entire Mountain View community, we have chosen this date because it is a night off for our high school football players and fans. The basket items that we have collected will be stored safely and used for the baskets at the festival in October. We thank all of you for your support and donations and are excited about what we will be able to accomplish in the fall. We apologize if our change in dates has caused any inconvenience, but we look forward to a great night with the Bear community in October.
Teacher Appreciation Week Begins Monday 5/4
Room parents have sent home information regarding their plans for teacher appreciation week, and how parents & students can participate. Thank you to everyone that signed up to help monitor the cafeteria during the teacher luncheons on Tuesday and Thursday, all of our volunteer slots have been filled!
May the 4th Be With You!
No, it's not Star Wars, it's Penny Wars! Help us raise money for the school in a way the kids adore. Look for promos on Facebook as we move through the "war". It's always a lot of fun for both students and teachers. We start play May 4th and will continue each day through the 8th! We are also looking for a few volunteers to assist with counting on Thursday 5/7 and Friday 5/8, if you can help, please sign-up here.
No Cafeteria Charges for Remainder of Year
Kindergarten Registration -Thursday May 7th
For the 2015-16 school year, our school system is using an easy-to-use secure registration system that will allow you to complete many of the required forms online. You may access kindergarten online registration by clicking here. Online registration is available 24/7.
If a family who is registering a kindergarten student has older elementary students already enrolled in GCPS, they should go ahead and complete their information online while registering the kindergarten student. Make sure you have your older student’s GCPS Identification Number. Students use their identification number for lunch and computer access. They should be able to give you their number. The number can also be found on report cards and Parent Portal.
Please complete online registration by May 6th to ensure a smooth registration process on May 7 (2PM – 6PM).
