Rose Lane Principal letter...
I really don't know any other way to say this except to put it as simply as possible: My heart is very full of appreciation and pride for our school, because of today's Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser. The kids had a blast, and although the wind made it a little cooler outside than expected, the flags looked super snappy as they were paraded out to the track at the start of each run. Many thanks to all of the parents, grandparents, relatives, and local businesses who pledged to support our kiddos - representing a total of $36,000 plus in profit! Our parent group, the Rocket Boosters, showed amazing commitment to recruiting volunteers, sending out messages, and promoting this event, under the extraordinary leadership of event organizer Mrs. Carll. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped check off laps and serve water. You are the best!
Also, our 4th Grade field trip to JA Biztown was phenomenal! This event was paid for by the $50 student activity fee, which pays for all field trips that we have planned for this school year. We are also planning an author visit, with Arizona author Terri Fields, who wrote the realistic fiction classic Danger in the Desert. If you have not already paid your $50 activity fee, please navigate to the Powerschool Parent Portal at https://msd38.powerschool.com/public/ or the MSD website to make your payment at https://madisonaz.org/community/tax-credit/. Know a relative or friend who also wants to also contribute to this? Please share the link and they will be able to do so online Thank you!
We are also looking forward to our first performance at the Madison Center for the Arts which will feature our 4th graders in a music-dance-theater showcase. Mr. Roach, Ms. Swanson, and Ms Longwell have been busy getting our kiddos ready to retake the stage, with props and a lobby exhibit featuring 3D art created in Mrs. Ewald's art class. Can't wait to see you there on February 24th!
Families, I also need your help. We have noticed a significant uptick in students arriving tardy, being withdrawn for the day early, or being left at school long after the afternoon bell has rung. Please remember that teachers teach from bell to bell. Not only do late arrivals and early withdrawals impact the students who are arriving at non-standard times, but they also disrupt instruction for the peers in those classrooms. Within three months, we will be doing our state and district testing, so teachers want to have every precious minute possible to help students develop mastery. Please help them achieve this by ensuring that students arrive on time, stay for the full day, and are picked up promptly so teachers can plan for even more success. Thank you very much for following through on this!
Many thanks, once again, for your support at all times, and for being our partners at Rose Lane!
Sincerely,
Rose Devine

Rose Lane 4th Graders take a trip!
Our 4th graders put their skills to work by becoming employees for a day in JA BizTown, and take on the challenge of running businesses. They get hands-on experience as both employees and consumers, paying rent, taxes and utilities, buying advertising from the radio station, conducting TV interviews, purchasing insurance, depositing paychecks and buying other business’ products, handling customer service, and more.
