YEAR IN REVIEW
Choose Opportunity-A Message from Mrs. Netolicky
I would never have imagined our 2019-2020 school year would have ended this way. It’s funny how life throws you curveballs when you least expect it. I was enjoying my spring break with my family and then came the moment I learned that the state of Kansas would be closing all schools and students would not return for the year. I certainly did not have the same feeling we get on a snow day. It was the opposite of that. I stood in my kitchen with my husband and cried. “How am I supposed to lead teachers and educate students with a pandemic? No one has written a book about this, ” I exclaimed. My phone and email began to blow-up with the questions and the same thoughts from families, staff, and other administrators. I took a deep breath, and realized I was sad not because we were in uncharted territory, but because I was not going to get to see the families and students that I have learned to care so deeply about. It is the staff, your children, and the community that brings me joy when I go to work. I had to shift my mindset and choose to look at this not as a curveball, but an opportunity. An opportunity to grow and to collaborate with the amazing team in Shawnee Mission and East Antioch. As we began to plan, I could see the determination they had to continue educating our future leaders. Our staff brainstormed, planned, and followed through with lessons, collaboration, and above all compassion for their students. None of us know what the fall will bring. No matter what, it will be an “opportunity” and we will be here for our community. I often say, I am so fortunate to work at a job I truly love. Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve in the role as your child’s principal. I wish you amazing opportunities this summer. Opportunities to enjoy those special moments with your children, opportunities to learn and grow, and opportunities to love. Until we see each other again, take care and be well. I care about you all. Have a great summer.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT FOR FALL 2020
We look forward to welcome our newest Panthers to East Antioch at the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the school closures for the rest of the current school year, Kindergarten Round Up is being handled differently. If you know a parent of a future kindergartener, please pass this information onto them.
Instead of meeting in person, parents of 2020-2021 Kindergarten Eligible Students (Age 5 on or before August 31, 2020) are asked to complete an initial Kindergarten Enrollment Form. This information will help us establish a student count and assist us in preparations for the upcoming school year.
Step 1: If you are unsure of your home area school, please check our district boundary map or the School Finder, both located on our website here. Please note: you must enroll at the home school of the area in which you reside. Transfer requests were due April 30. There might be another opening later in August if there is room.
Step 2: Click on the button (located on the Kindergarten Round Up page) for your appropriate area high school feeder pattern. This will take you directly to the form you need to complete.
Step 3: After the form is submitted, the school secretary will contact you with next steps to complete the enrollment process.
