Welcome From Our Principal, Mrs. Anita Clarke
BMS' Daily Motto: "Be THANKFUL as we EMPOWER our youth to make an IMPACT!"
SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH
WHAT FAMILIES CAN DO
- Find out what day school starts and make sure your child has the required shots.
- Build regular routines for bed time and the morning.
- Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school.
- Don’t permit missing school unless your child is truly sick. Use a thermometer to check for a fever. Remember that stomach aches and headaches may be signs of anxiety.
- Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
- Keep a chart recording your child’s attendance at home. At the end of the week, talk with your child about what you see.
- Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Ask a family member, neighbor or another parent for help.
- Seek support from school staff or community groups to help with transportation, health problems, or no safe path to school.

The PTO Mission
The mission of the National PTO is three-fold.
- To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; and
- To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
- To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

A+ College Ready, New Curriculum for 2017-18
A+ College Ready works to dramatically increase the number of students in Alabama taking math, science, English, and social studies Advanced Placement courses, earning qualifying scores on AP exams, and attending and succeeding in college. It also works to expand computer science principles to prepare more students for 21st-century careers.
Our students are participating in more engaging, higher-level thinking activities across the curriculum. Ask your child about what they are doing in their classes and how they are challenged to think deeper and problem-solve. We are excited how our faculty and students have risen to the challenge of our new curriculum and look forward to seeing the growth in each child.
