Newsletter Week 9 Term 1
Meeanee School 30th March, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR
Only two weeks today to go in Term 1. It has certainly flown by and had it's challenges for our Meeanee School Community. Students last day for Term 1 is Wednesday 13th April. On Thursday 14th April staff will be in at school working on our PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) work and Healthy Active Learning with Sport Hawke's Bay.
This week at Staff Meeting we had a visiting facilitator, Karen Lethbridge, from Evaluation Associates who came to take a look at our Meeanee School Curriculum. It was encouraging to see that all the work we have done over the past five years means that we have developed a strong curriculum for our children. Reading, Writing, and Mathematics are still at the core of what we do. The amount of Sport we are able to offer now has increased and students are receiving more opportunities to do something different. Thanks to all of those parents over the years who have taken part in our community consultation and provided us with your thoughts on what you want for your students.
Fingers crossed this year that it also means the Senior class may be able to go away for camp this year. Unfortunately in the last two years we have been hampered by COVID-19. Kelly and her class are very good at fundraising so that they can enjoy some cool activities.
Also with the easing of restrictions we may also be able to enjoy Matariki and have another hangi. Last year's was a huge success and brought in new members of our community to school. I hope to be able to update you more in the future.
Be Kind, Stay Safe,
Damion
