Turning Plants Into Biofuel

By Sean Humphrey and Jordan Waldman

What is it?

Biofuel is fuel produced from living matter. The fuel is created by harvesting vegetables or oils such as palm oil to mix with petroleum to use a fuel.

How Is It Being Used Currently?

Biofuel is currently being used as an alternative to regular fuel. It is mostly used as fuel for automobiles (particularly diesel trucks). Biofuel has the possibility of being a oil-spill cleaning agent, heating fuel, and removing paint and adhesives.

Benefits Of Biofuel

This type of genetic engineering is beneficial because it can replace costly and limited fossil fuel. Biofuel will produce less harmful greenhouse gasses. This will help to stop global warming.

Disadvantages Of Biofuel

The disadvantages of biofuel are: cost of fertilizer, shortage of food, and water use. The only risk of biofuel is higher crop prices and lower food supply.

Economic affect

The economic effect of biofuel is lower gas prices and higher crop prices. It would also help out countries who grow these fuel sources, like Brazil, Argentina, and Indonesia.

How Does It Affect Organisms Physically

Biofuel may affect all animals because, the high demand for crops may cause land to be deforested and used for agricultural purposes.

How Does It Affect The Enviroment

It affects the environment by causing deforestation and a possible reduce in greenhouse gases. Biofuel will also help in trying to mitigate global warming

How Does It Affect The World In A Social Aspect

It affects the world in a social aspect by ending the tensions between oil rich countries and fear of running out of fuel. It would also give developing countries in South America more money from exports.

How Will It Affect Our Future

It will affect our future by changing our economy and how cars are built. It will also affect our future by making a safer alternative to gas and oil. The use of Biofuel may also be abke to power houses and other buildings
