The four communication commonalities are auditory comprehension, verbal expression, reading- writing and functional communication . Aphasia is the inability to understand or express speech caused by traumatic injury to the brain such as a drastically life changing event known as a stroke. There are different stages of aphasia depending on the severity of someone’s stroke. Aphasia ranges from what you want to say but you can’t find the exact words to say what’s needed. Receptive aphasia is when a person sees scripture and can’t not make sense of what is written in the novel or paper whereas lastly, global aphasia is the most severe strand it prohibits the stroke survivor to; speak, read, write and understand speech.

Doctors bills don't always have to be the issue

About 44 million people in this country have no health insurance, and another 38 million have inadequate health insurance. This means that nearly one-third of Americans face each day without the security of knowing that, if and when they need it, medical care is available to them and their families, with that being said out of the population of those who doesn't have credible health care 9.8 percent of the individuals are stroke survivors. With health care being inaccessible it makes it incredibly difficult for one to have the opportunity to regain their full functioning motor skills. Speech pathologists have researched and done several successful studies on different rehabilitation outcomes that can be done from your home instead on having to pay a visit to the doctors office.

The Research Process

In conclusion to my research just in the U.S 1 million people suffer from aphasia but eighty thousand people are victims of strokes. It is unfortunate and troubling to know that out of the eighty thousand people who have suffered a stroke and aphasia as an after math only a mere twenty five percent regain their full functioning cognitive motor skills with the proper rehabilitation. No significant differences have been found in the incidence of aphasia in men and women. However, some date suggests that differences may exist by type and severity of aphasia. For example- global aphasia can occur more commonly in women where as Broca Aphasia can only occur with men.
