It's December!

It is still hard for me to remember it's December and there is NO snow! I am enjoying the nice temperatures and sunshine while doing all the hustle and bustle the holiday brings! We have many great activities and events planned in the next three weeks-- we are excited to finish the semester strong!

We have several progress monitoring tests to take before the year is out. This will help us stay on track with our WIN class as well as give us critical information to prepare for the Spring GMAS testing window. We will also be sending home information about a WINTER break reading challenge! In this newsletter you will find a link to tell me about an amazing adult at BCMS who has helped make your child's experience ELITE! I truly hope that you will take the time to do that. Our teachers are at the heart of what we do everyday and I am so proud of the learning experiences they create for our scholars!

Please make sure that you are signed up for my REMIND, as well as the grade level REMINDS so you don't miss a beat! I have found some glitches with the REMIND and some parents have signed up for the one I use for teachers and staff. I have removed you from that REMIND, so please make sure you are still linked in to the one that is called BCMS Community. The link is at the bottom of this newsletter.

Using MAP data to goal CRUSH!

Winter Map Testing Window: November 29th - December 20th

The MAP Window is here! We will begin testing WINTER MAP. We will be using our goal setting from WIN to track these next four weeks as we prepare to test in Reading, Language Usage, and Math. I can't wait to see how much we have grown! If you would like to look at your child's MAP reports and have us discuss it with you, please email me! MAP reports give us lots of great information about the domains of learning and where we can enrich and remediate our scholars.

Mr. Scott, Mr. Wright, and myself will be meeting with each scholar beginning 11/27 to talk to them about their GMAS reports, Lexile (reading score), and MAP reports. We will also begin goal setting with each scholar. It is so critical that our scholars KNOW where they are academically so they can set an achievable goal and work to get there! We are very excited about empowering them with this data and knowledge!

Notes from Ms. Raeburn

As we prepare to finish the semester, I am ExExExCited to roll out our Community "You Make A Difference" form! If there is a grown-up at BCMS who has made a significant difference in your child's life and/or middle school experience, I want to know about it! Pleae take a few minutes to share that on the form. All of our staff who are nominated will be recognized at our end of the semester breakfast!

We truly have ELITE teachers at BCMS! There is no profession like teaching! The impact, influence, and change that we have in the schoolhouse and classrooms everyday is life changing! I am proud to work along side such dynamic and dedicated professionals who truly are here to grow scholars!

Here is the link to the form:

We have three weeks of instruction before the Holiday Break and we will be doing some end of the semester testing for progress monitoring. My Principal's Cabinet will be meeting with each individual scholar to talk to them about their personal test and reading scores. I am excited about doing this because it will give us the 1:1 time needed to help our schoalrs understand where they are performing at and help them set achieveable goals for their performance.

Scholars will be brining home the form for you to look at as well. It is our hope to get all these meetings done before the Holiday Break.

I have attached the link here of what the form looks like:

Thank you for being proactive and for supporting our school and our passion work! I am proud to be your principal and would love to hear from you! If you have a concern or a comment, please do not hesitate to email or call me: eraeburn@bryan.k12.ga.us or 912-626-5050 or 912.255.0630.

Christmas Angel Project

This holiday season we are collecting all spare and lose change for our Christmas Angel project. Please consider bringing in your spare change or any amount you are willing to donate! Our school goal is $1000.00 and I know with all of us working together we can crush that goal! A huge thank you to our BCMS Student Council for coordinating such an important and meaningful effort!

Whatever I Need! WIN time

WIN period is an elite time for our scholars to work on goal setting, grade checking, acceleration of curriculum, and enrichment. Please ask your child what goals they are working on during WIN time! The more we talk about goals and we model that having goals is critical, the more they will work to achieve them! Clubs is running great! I love seeing all the scholars discovering new interests and passions!

We added more structured elements to WIN time to make sure that we are targeting the areas of growth for our scholars. We will do a progress monitoring check in WIN on 12/12! We have our data from our short form MAP test that was taken on 11/7 and 11/8. Scholars will work through those data points this week. If we can show 30% or more growth as a schoolhouse, we will add an additional CLUB day to January!

Monday- Goal setting and Grade Checking- Goals are set based on Reading RIT MAP scores

Tuesday- Enrichment and Remediation Rotations begin! Short form data is ready!

Wednesday- Enrichment/Remediation

Thursday- Enrichment/Remediation

Friday- Clubs !

Please send in your BOX TOPS! 6th grade is in the LEAD!
