What are global climate change and global warming and what causes it?
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is when carbon dioxide and methane, also known as greenhouse gases, trap themselves into the earth's atmosphere. The earth's atmosphere is made of ozone and other gasses. the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is from emissions of sulfuric acid and fossil fuels, such as coal. Ozone acts as sunscreen and protects us from the sun, it does not warm us! Up in the arctic the polar ice caps are melting and polar bears are becoming extinct. This is because of global climate change. The earth heating up causes the ice caps to melt and the polar bears have less and less places to go since they live on the ice. This is causing sea levels to rise because of the melting ice caps. We can also get massive, long lasting storms, which is extremely dangerous.
