Groundhog's Day 🐻

Groundhog Day By: Dylan H.

I would want the groundhog to not see its shadow so I can get warm and I can swim. I don't like winter because it is too cold and I do not get to go to playdates. I do not like the cold. I do not believe in Groundhogs Day because this year the groundhog saw his shadow and spring is coming soon. It seems like spring is coming soon because it is heating up next week.

What would you do if your snowman came to life? ⛄️

If My Snowman Came to Life By: Ray W.

If my snowman came to life we would do so many things together. We would bake Christmas cookies together, go play in the snow, and go ice skating! I could also live in an ice cube house! My Snowman can also make snow angels with me.

What I would do if a snowman came to life By: Arielle F.

I would go outside and greet him. I would tell him all the things he can do before spring. I would play in the snow with him. I would tell him that I made him and that he is a great friend. I would tell him that he can not be in the warmth. I would bring all of my friends over to meet him. I would say you are my snowman and you are my special friend. I would tell him about how he was made and I was no longer lonely. I would tell him about toes and shoes, books, and school. Then he would ask me if he could come to school with me. I would tell him that he would not be able to fit in the bus or car. I told him that he was the best friend and that I would be sad to lose him. Before I went inside I said his name from then on would be Bob.I told him one more thing I told him that I would see him in my dreams every night and that I wanted him to come every winter…. And he did.

I'm writing about what I would do if my snowman came to life. By: Lillian Z.

If a snowman came to life I would play with it and decorate it. It would also be my friend. We would play all day. He would come to school with me. We would eat carrots together well, especially not his nose. This is my story of what me and my snowman would do if he came to life. What would you do if your Snowman came to life?

How to Make Lollipops By: Alexa H.

Ingredients

Light corn syrup

Flavoring/ extract

Food coloring (optional)

Water

Sugar

Sticks

Directions

To prepare you need to get a long pan and cover it up with parchment paper, and lay your sticks on it.

First you put your pot on the stove on high. Then fill your pot with water, sugar, and your light corn syrup, and wait for it to boil. After that you would put your mixture into separate bowls. Then you are going to add your food coloring and your flavoring to your bowls and mix. But when you take your mixture off the stove it would immediately start to harden. You are then going to pour it over the sticks. Finally you are going to let it sit out for a little while until it hardens. Then you can take it off of the parchment paper and enjoy.

Winter Cookies By: Ray W.

My favorite winter recipes are winter cookies. You can make any shapes maybe snowflakes or a star or maybe even a Christmas tree shape! Then, you can add sprinkles!! It doesn't have to be a perfect cookie. It can be blue sprinkles with a pink star in the middle or anything you want! You can also warm the cookies to make them more delicious! They put a lot of sugar on the cookie, but not every cookie should have a lot of sugar.

What was your favorite memory from 2020? 😁

My Favorite 2020 Memory By: Ray W.

My favorite 2020 Memory is me playing in the snow (In December). I was in the snow playing, I made a snow hill and a little snowman. I actually didn't know how to make a snowman so I made a little one. I also made a snow hill, I kinda ruined the hill but it was fun! I made 2 snow angels as well. The snow looked so smooth I wanted to touch it, It didn't feel smooth but I still was satisfied about it. I was playing outside in the snow for 2 or 3 hours. I felt a little bit cold so I went inside my house to take warm tea.

My Favorite Memory from 2020 By: Andre D.

My favorite memory from 2020 is that I loved when I played in the snow and got a day off from school. I also loved it when I went to Hunter Mountain to ski and I went with my Aunt and Uncle and cousins. What I did in Hunter Mountain was going on a lift and skiing down the slope. I did it with my cousin and it was so much fun. I practice first before going on the lift with my cousin.

Favorite Memory of 2020: Covid Field Day on Two Different Streets By: James P. and Brenden G .

Field day at home was fun. It was an experience but in school there is more competition but they are both fun.

Here are some games that we played . At the first house, the game that we played was to put a cookie on your chin, move it slowly and try to get it into your mouth with no hands . IT IS HARD .

At the second house we did monkey bars. It was easy until the fifth bar. Some people's hands were starting to hurt . BUT IT HAS HARD .

At the third place, there was a bin on each side. We had little pails. We put water in them. Then put that in a bigger pail. . We liked it because we got wet a lot. IT WAS HARD .

The fourth house we had to shoot a basketball in a hoop. There was a small level for 5 year olds, a higher level for 6 and 7 year olds, and a very high level for 8 , 9 , 10 , and 11 year olds. THAT WAS FUN. THAT WAS HARD.

At the fifth house we did a water balloon toss. Then we went into a blow up pool. We did five water balloon fights that day and nobody won.

That is how we did Covid Field Day.

A Favorite Memory By: Gabriella M.

My favorite memory from 2020 is when I went to Park City, Utah with my family and best friend's family. We all stayed together in a house in Park City and went skiing. One day we went dog-sledding and I got to meet and play with the Husky dogs that drove the sleds. We went out to dinner and had a late night. We went shopping.

Our last day of vacation, we had a leak in our house we were staying in, so we all had to pack up our stuff and move to another house. The house they sent us to was huge and had a hot tub outside. I kind of wish the leak happened sooner because we would have been able to stay in that house for longer. I like the ski place because the snow was very fluffy. What makes it good is when you fall because it won't hurt as much.

The Best Part of 2020 By: Ryan S.

On March 20 on a Friday afternoon, school closed and we had a package. This was the week after the pandemic had started and everything was closed down. My parents called us upstairs and we started opening the package as it began to shake. We looked inside and there it was, a black, furry, puppy. My sister screamed and said “Oh my god we got a puppy.” We’ve wanted a dog forever. We finally got our LOLA!

Snow By: Andre D.

Snow is white as a cloud.

Snow is cold as a refrigerator.

Snow is bright as the sun.

Snow days are fun like weekends.

Snow is white like paper.

Snow lets me sleep late like a holiday.

Snow is wonderful, because you get to play with your friends!

Winter By: Lev K.

The winter is going, the winter is snowing, the mooses are skipping, the humans are sleeping.

The snow is here, the snow is here. Oh winter is coming oh dear oh dear.

I didn’t know that it comes so fast.

Well that makes me happy. It’s winter at last.

Winter Poem By: Lev K. and Gabby M.

The bears are going to curl up in the bed,so winter is coming that’s great, that’s great.

The bears are snoring, the horses are poring, the ice is cold, the humans are bundled so tight because it’s cold.

The Winter Pansies are blooming, the American Mistletoe is falling in love, the Bodnant Viburnum is gently asleep and the Christmas Cactus is singing his songs.

.Dragons. By: Daniel R.

Dragons are red Dragons

Are blue Dragons

Are green and Dragons

Are ruf and tuff with you. Dragons

Have scales that are ruff and nails That are tuff and tails that are tuff and ruff. Dragons, Dragons Fly in the air Dragons

Are everywhere.

A Winter Poem By: Lev K. and Jonah G.

Roses are red, violets are blue, it's so cold I go achooooo!!!

Winters are cold, they are white and bright, the snow is soooooo cold which makes it just right.

A snowman’s smile is just soooooo wild. It makes my face so mild.

The bears are sleeping, the horses are weeping, the mice are squeaking and the humans are skiing.

The marshmallows are bubbling, the hot cocoas are mumbling.

What would you change to make the world a better place? 🌎

January 18th is Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for what he believed was right, and he helped make many changes. In one of his most famous speeches, he said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today." His dream has come true, but the world is still not perfect. What can we do to continue to make positive changes?

Pollution in the Ocean By: Dylan H.

To make the world a better place I think that people should stop polluting in the ocean. I think that this world should stop polluting the ocean because it will make the world a better place because animals are disappearing and dying in the ocean from the mass piles of trash. I think that the polluting should come to an end because it will help the animals.

It has had a big effect on the ocean and has been terrible to the color of it. So make your change today and stop putting trash in the ocean.

What I Would Change to Make the World a Better Place By: Kyiera M.

I would like to change how people take care of the habitats that some animals live in. For example, stop throwing trash on the streets or sidewalk, recycle items that can be used for many different uses and projects, and take care of the environment to keep our grass, flowers, and animals safe.

Another thing I would change is respecting others. I think we should respect other people because if there was a homeless person on the street and you were being mean and rude instead of helping that would make them feel really bad. If you saw a stray dog and you just kicked it around instead of taking it to a shelter then that would hurt a poor dog and make the dog feel like they are not wanted.

The last thing I would change to make the world a better place is helping other people/animals when they need it. If someone asks for help then you should say yes because you are doing them a favor and one day they can pay you back. When you are helping them to make a change and make things different or better then that would be a good thing to do for both you and them!

Winter Sports 🏈

Playoffs By: Shane S.

It is the playoffs in football.

In the playoffs losers are illuminated. I will tell you guys who won the games of each game in the Wild card.

The Ravens beat the Titans. The Browns beat the Stellers. The Bills beat the Colts and the Buccaneers beat the Football Team. The Saints beat the Bears and the Rams beat the Seawhawks. Then, the Chiefs and the Packers had a bye, which means they got to skip a game.

I will tell you guys who won in the Divisional round. The Chiefs beat the Browns, and the Packers beat the Rams. The Bills beat the Ravens and the Buccaneers beat the Saints. I was sad that the Saints lost because that might have been Drew Brees’ last game.

I will tell you who is playing in the Championship.

The Buccaneers are playing the Packers and the Chiefs are playing the Bills.

I think the Bucks are going to beat the Packers. It might be tough for the Chiefs to win because Patrick Mahones may be out with a concussion injury.

I think the Bills will beat the Chiefs. This will be a great football season.

What would life be like if you lived in a snow globe? 🏂

Life in a Snow Globe By: Andre D.

If I lived in a snow globe I would not like it.The reason why I would not like living in a snow globe is because if someone got a snow globe and I was in it and they shaked it I would be very dizzy and after I would not feel good. Another reason I would not want to live in a snow globe is because I would be just standing there and doing nothing. They will also glue me down. I won't be able to move. This is why I would not want to live in a snow globe.

I Love Snow Globes By: Noah N.

Life in a snow globe would be great, because you could have a lot of fun, like when people shake the snow globe you could see it snowing a lot. I also would like living in a snow globe, because I could be covered in snow and I love snow. Another reason I would like living in snow is, because you could never get cold. Another reason I think living in a snow globe would be nice is, because you could be safe from cats that like breaking stuff. I also hope you all have a happy new year. I LOVE SNOW GLOBES!!!

Another STEAM Experiment

We did an experiment on Balance and Unbalanced Force. The egg on the toilet paper tube is balanced force; gravity is keeping the egg down and the tube is forcing the egg up. Since it doesn't move, it is balanced. Once we hit the pie tin, we added unbalanced force and gravity made the egg land in the cup of water.
