What We're Learning
Language Arts:
1.10 The student will identify the main idea and details of a passage
1.7 The student will expand vocabulary and use of word meanings by using words from other content areas.
1.3 The student will orally identify, produce, and manipulate various phonemes within words to develop phonological and phonemic awareness.
Math:
1.11 The student will use calendar language appropriately (e.g., names of the months, today, yesterday, next week, last week).
Social Science:
1.10 The student will apply the traits of a good citizen by:
focusing on fair play, exhibiting good sportsmanship, helping others, and treating others with respect;
Recognizing the purpose of rules and practicing self-control;
Working hard in school;
taking responsibility for one’s own actions;
Valuing honesty and truthfulness in oneself and others
Science:
1.1 The student will demonstrate an understanding of scientific reasoning, logic, and the nature of science by planning and conducting investigations.
1.7 The student will investigate and understand weather and seasonal changes.
Star Students!
Mallette: Tyion has been setting a fabulous example for first grade behavior. He is showing his PAWS in everything he does. He has been on task, ready to learn, and willing to help his fellow classmates through the first week of school as they navigate new expectations.
Davis: Araya is a role model for her peers and has embraced our expectations for success (PAWS).She is kind to her classmates and respectful to adults. She works hard and often the first to offer a helping hand to a friend in need.
Turner: Willard has been an excellent student this week! He has quickly picked up the routines and procedures of our first grade class. He has been working well with peers and setting a good example for positive hallway, classroom, and cafeteria behavior. Keep it up Willard!
Drake: JaSiah is new to Chimborazo this year. He came to our school excited to learn and meet new friends. He puts pride in his work and displays respect for his teacher's as well as his peers. JaSiah is helpful and caring. He sets a great example for others each day.
