School Newsletter-15 December 2022
Endeavour School - December 15, 2022
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Parents, Caregivers and Children,
As I write to you for the final time in 2022, it is with much pride that I reflect on the year that has been and the many achievements as a collective we are able to celebrate. This year we once again were presented with many challenges and as a team, along with the support of you our community, we have faced them head on; consistently ensuring that our children, their learning and well being are at the forefront of our decision making.
Yesterday we held our Service Assembly to acknowledge the many young people that have given service to our school over the year. Giving service is a behaviour that communities rely on. You don't have to look around for too long to see the many hours of service and goodwill that people give, whether it be with sports clubs, schools or community centres, each association is only able to thrive as a result of their community and the service people kindly offer. Providing our children with the opportunity to build their understanding and willingness to give service I see as one of the many important elements to schooling in the 21st Century. Yesterday it was wonderful being able to acknowledge the many children who have taken up that opportunity this year.
Today we recognised learners who have been diligent and applied themselves consistently throughout the year. Whether the children received an Academic award or an ETC Award, each award is a result of their effort towards their own learning. I would like to once again congratulate all the children whom received an award today.
In addition I would like to recognise each child as the school year draws to a close. They bring with them their own story. Our schools richness is defined by these many stories and today I would like to celebrate the efforts that our treasures over the year have given. Well done to you all!
Finally, as we head into the final weeks of the year, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. Chatting to many of you it has been a hectic year. I hope that you are able to take some time, relax and be with the people that are closest to you. We look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday 1st February 2023.
Warm Regards
Geoff

RECENT EVENTS AT ENDEAVOUR
TAUPIRI CAMP - TOTARA LODGE
Recently our Year 5 and 6 students had the pleasure of attending Tōtara Springs, near Matamata for their Senior Camp Experience. What a fabulous place to discover new experiences and test one's resilience!
We were spoilt for choice with a range of activities, from archery, abseiling, rock wall climbing, rafting, water slides and more. We congratulate all the children who took on the challenges and got out there and had a go!
We would like to again thank our supporting parents, Jason, Baden, Mike, Victoria, Tracy, Jalawar, Stacey, Liam, Mark, Khadija, Steve M, Steve T, Di and Ben. Thank you for making our camp a memorable occasion and giving up your time and energy to support us.
Also a HUGE thank you must go out to the Taupiri Teacher's for all the mahi that went into the preparation and organisation of the camp, in order for it to run smoothly for our students.
We hope that the memories made will last for a lifetime! What an amazing experience!
YEAR 6 LEAVERS' DINNER
YEAR 6 LEAVERS’ EVENT - MY PERSPECTIVE…...
Child by child were invited up onto the stage to receive a certificate from our Ako teacher. When all the graduates were presented with their certificates, the parents and the crowd watched a short recording of all Year 6 leavers’ talking about what they wanted for their future and what they wished for future Endeavour School learners. At the same time there was a picture of us when we started school and it changed into a picture of us when we were Year 6’s. It was really fun being able to see a picture of our classmates when they started school!
Mr Booth gave a speech about how we will learn from our Endeavour School experience and to be successful in our own way. After the presentation, all of the parents left the hall to go home and us students went to LC6 to have our dinner. The room was lit up with candles in jars on each table, and an individual cup and straw placed for each student, next to a named place card. The dinner was amazing, we had a range of delicious food. After dinner the teachers invited us up for dessert.
Finally, there was a photo booth for the students to have a photo with their friend/s, so after dessert the line for the photo booth started to expand. Some people in some photos were doing all sorts of funny poses! It was a really nice celebration to remember. It is also a really nice way to say “ I have graduated primary school!”
