Zone Diet

What is it?

The zone diet is a high-fat, low carbohydrate fad diet created by biochemist Barry Sears. It recommends eating five times a day to help a sense of satisfaction that discourages over eating.

Weekly Meal

The diet recommends eating 30% protein, 30% fat, and 40% carbohydrates during each meal. A lot of fruits, vegetables, and bread products are useful in this diet. A steak with a side of corn and bread could be an example of a good meal.


This diet, as I said before, can help reduce heart disease and the risk of diabetes, but it lessens your endurance.

Pros and Cons

This diet may help you lose weight and lessen your chances of heart disease. The bad side of this would be that it is a hard diet to follow and it is time consuming.


I do not recommend this diet because I feel as if there are many diets that are easier to follow than this one and less time consuming. Many people who use diets are athletic which means this diet would just slow them down.
