News from our PTA President, Karen Kunkel
It's difficult to imagine that the 2015-16 school year is quickly coming to an end. Great things are happening at Harrison and your PTA is working hard to close out the year with a flurry of activities. Here's a look at what's left to come:
*Get ready for our Feeling Groovy Book Fair April 18th through the 22nd. Lots of fun activities are planned and we're excited to once again have students invite their special guests to lunch. A Sign Up Genius will be sent requesting volunteers to ensure this is yet another successful event.
*All Pro Dad: join us for our last event of the year On April 22nd
*Save the date for our Neon Night Spring Dance which has been rescheduled to Friday, May 6th. Our Sign Up Genius link to volunteer is: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/30e094cabac2aab9-volunteers Thanks in advance for making this a fun night for the kids.
*If you haven't had a chance to purchase your yearbook, you still have time! Don't miss out on all the great memories for the year. The cost is $14 and checks can be made payable to DHE PTA.
*Do you have a student moving to Wilson's Creek? There are plenty of opportunities to become involved in the WC PTA. They are currently searching for chairs for the following: book fair, fundraising, product rebates, spirit wear, teacher appreciation and yearbook. Your kids may be getting older, but parent involvement is still critical to your child's success. Stay involved!
*Remember our online student directory! David Harrison Elementary Directory | David Harrison Elementary PTA. You still have the opportunity to register your student's information into the directory in time for summer vacation (option to register in upper right corner of page). Use the password 2015atDHE to access the directory.
*Congratulations to our incoming PTA officers for 2016-17!

Our Spring Feelin’ Groovy Book Fair surrounds students in the celebration of reading with hundreds of fun, engaging, affordable books for them to discover. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose their own books will motivate them to read more. And like most acquired skills, the more kids practice reading, the better they’ll get. Please be watching for the sign-up to volunteer to help during this exciting week, we count on wonderful parent volunteers to make this a great event. The two classes (K-2nd) and (3rd-4th) with the most volunteer hours will win extra recess!
All for Books raises money to buy books for pediatric patients at Mercy Children’s Hospital. Students who donate $1 may come to school Thursday, April 14th in fun Feelin’ Groovy Hippie wear. Last fall we donated 96 books to Mercy Children’s Hospital.
