Principal's Update

January 15, 2021

Greetings North Plains Families!

There really isn't much to report this week! Apparently our reader board was held up and isn't quite here yet, so that's a couple of weeks away:( I did a video tour of the gym this week, so that will be out soon which will be fun, and it's supposed to be better weather this week.... that's almost all I can think of!

I thought you might like to see some of the slide decks we've been using with students this year for announcements. Here is the one for this past week: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ENdnZvN68xwVeSVLy3DA8D4xwpf-ypYcEHPCB-jpmtw/edit?usp=sharing and here is the one for this coming week: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1g5HWrqMercDvvLFZO2xCOxVlJN1xhI3lojEEHv_lzSc/edit?usp=sharing

Each month we focus on a different character trait, this month being perseverance, and each week we highlight a person who exhibits that trait. I will start adding these links to my weekly newsletters and you can look at them or no:) If you want past ones, just let me know!

The end of semester 1 is at the end of this month and teachers will have a grading day on Jan. 29, and a planning day on Feb. 1, so there will be no school on those days. Also, Martin Luther King Jr. day is Jan. 18, so no school on that holiday as well. Please mark your calendars!

You may have heard that Atfaliti Ridge has a mascot, the Blue Jay! I didn't realize it was final, but apparently that is the one:)

I've been thinking about how we can do an all school event that is NOT online, but not in person either. One thought is to do a school wide fun run, say from here to Disneyland? We can calculate the miles needed and adjust based on number of students in the class, say. Students would log miles (achieved with different activities), and the class that got there first could win a drive by ice cream party or something? I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

Nothing else that I can think of right now....except that I need photos!!

Please reach out if I can help in any way, my contact info is below. Have a great weekend!
