Sunday Message
March 30-April 3
Principal's Message
Families,
I hope you are safe and well. I miss the excitement, laughter, and positive energy we experienced daily when school was open. In spite of the current challenges we are facing, please know the staff at Pleasant Union is looking forward to reconnecting with our students through remote learning. I want to provide you with additional information about instruction during this time.
Every grade level team collaborated virtually last week in order to create aligned instructional activities for students this week. All activities are optional and will not be graded. Each grade level team will send parents communication regarding instructional activities for the week. If you have not received communication from your child's teacher, please contact me. Optional assignments may include instructional activities on Google Classroom, Prodigy, Dreambox, Seesaw, and/or RazKids. At this time, the county's current guidance is that elementary students should only spend 1-2 hours engaged in remote learning. We know that you know your child best. In the event that you would like additional instructional resources, please visit the district's remote learning website https://sites.google.com/wcpss.net/instructional-continuity-wcpss/learning-resources/elementary-school
In addition to the optional instructional activities mentioned above, every grade level team has been asked to increase the level of student-teacher interaction this week. Teachers will accomplish this through setting up at least one interactive experience, like a Google Meet. This may be a morning meeting, read aloud, or share time that will provide students the opportunity to reconnect with their teacher. Your child's teacher will also be in touch to survey your family's access to technology which will help guide our next steps in providing online instruction.
Instructional Expectations for the Week of April 6-10
Year-round schools across the district will begin introducing new content to students. More information is forthcoming from the school district.
Please know that our faculty is thinking of each PUE family during this time. We can't wait to see you all again!
Sincerely,
Kiley Brown, Principal
