Off to a Great Start!
We have had a fantastic start to our school year! I've been getting to know my students as well as their academic strengths. I must say that they have terrific ideas for writing:) I cannot wait to read the narratives they are creating for our current writing unit! We continue to practice Shark Strong behavior in the classroom and around the school building. I am very pleased so far and look forward to the enormous progress they will make this year:)
Picture Day is this Thursday, September 6th
We will take Fall Pictures this Thursday. A picture order form will come home with your child this week. If you would like to purchase pictures, fill out the form and send in the money in the envelope. You can also purchase pictures online, but please remember to send in the form with your child by Thursday.
Two Quick Notes
There will be no spelling or spelling homework this week due to the Labor Day holiday.
There will be a math quiz on place value, comparing numbers, and rounding on Friday, September 7th. I will send a study guide home by Wednesday.
Schiele Museum Field Trip Forms
The fourth grade will take their first field trip on Friday, September 28th. We will travel to the Schiele Museum in Gastonia for the day. While there, students will enjoy a presentation on animal adaptations, and visit the Catawba Indian Village to learn about Native Americans who lived in the Eastern Woodland region.
The cost for students is $15.00. Please send in the permission form and money by Monday, September 24th.
I am also looking for two parent volunteers who would like to travel with us. The cost for parents is $8.00. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.
Freckle Math and Epic Reading Access at Home
We have begun to use two online applications during math and reading time. Freckle and Epic offer extra practice in math and reading, and you can access them at home. Students have their login information for both in their agendas. If you are looking for extra math and reading activities for your child, I encourage you to use these excellent resources. I will always attach the web addresses to my newsletters.
