Celebrate Reading

Read Across America is a national celebration of reading which centers around Theodor Geisel's (Dr. Seuss's) birthday. Here at Spearman we have planned a week of fun Seuss and reading activities for everyone!

The Week at a Glance

Monday

Theme: Cat in the Hat/ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins: Wear your favorite hat!

Activities: Activity Centers DURING Related Arts.


Tuesday

Theme: Dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character

Activities: Character Parade & Guest author. Alternative schedule will be provided.


Wednesday

Theme: Fox in Socks: Wear your wacky socks!

Activities: Activity centers DURING Related Arts.


Thursday

Theme: One Fish, Two Fish Dress like a Red or Blue Fish! Wear red or blue.

Activities: Dr. Seuss movie in the gym: Horton Hears a Who. Schedule similar to Holiday Movie day.


Friday

Theme: Cuddle Up with a Good Book: Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite books to read.

Activities: After Variety Show (Activity Schedule) we will have DEAR time DURING Related Arts.

Wednesday, March 5, 2014 Is World Read Aloud Day

The first Wednesday of March each year is World Read Aloud Day. I encourage you to read aloud with your students that day, and to encourage your parents to read aloud with their children as well. This might be something you could promote in your newsletter.
