Pine Road Grows Great Kids

October 14, 2021

Dear Pine Road Families,

While the temperatures as of late have been trying to trick us, the leaves are finally starting to change, signaling that Fall is here! If you are anything like me, this is fantastic news as the Fall season in Pennsylvania is one of my favorites!

As the temperatures get consistently cooler, please ensure that your student(s) dress for the weather. Whether for PE class, recess, snack, or just a break, we attempt to get our students outside each day. Our temperature guidelines for recess can be found on page 15 in our Handbook for Students and Families.

Perhaps the most exciting event this Fall is the return of the Fall Parade! Final preparations are being made for the parade on October 29th (rain date 11/1)! Due to the need to adhere to our reopening plan and allow classes to utilize our outdoor spaces, class parties will occur every day during the week of 10/25. Please keep an eye out for more information from your homeroom teachers. Please coordinate with your homeroom parents if you wish to make any food donations for your class party!

Please keep in mind that our campus will be closed to motor vehicles for our students’ safety after our regular student arrival is complete. Please carpool (if possible) and plan to park on Pine Road. More information regarding the parade can be found HERE.

Pine Road Highlights

Cafeteria Information

Please review the linked communication regarding the potential impact of supply chain issues on our school lunches. The Nutrition Group has responded to these challenges extremely well, but families are encouraged to more closely monitor our menus as they may need to shift more frequently.

We are thrilled to have our annual Evening to Honor Veterans return this year! Please visit this website for important information, including opportunities for students to submit artwork or writing pieces!

Technology Reminder

Electronic devices/games are NOT permitted in school or on school property unless preapproved for educational purposes by school/teacher. The use of cell phones and other electronic devices is not permitted during the school day, including on the bus both to and from school. In the event that cell phones are brought to school, they must be turned off and remain in the student’s backpack in school and on the bus.

Please know that this also applies to smartwatches. Please review this with your students at home!

Fall Parade Safety Reminders

With many families utilizing the walker line this year (many for the first time!), a few reminders will allow us to ensure safety and efficiency for all.

    • All walkers must cross Pine Road at the designated crosswalk under the guidance of the School Crossing Guard.

    • Students must be signed out in the afternoon by their parents/guardians and Photo Identification must be presented. A staff member will be at the front lobby of the building to sign out students. (Parents may not park their cars in the school lot and pick up student walkers.)

    • Please be mindful of the Car-Line Dismissal that occurs concurrently with walker dismissal to limit interruptions and allow for the safe dismissal of students.
