SCIENCE ALIVE WEEK BEGINS MARCH 21ST!
Science Alive is an interactive, hands-on experience that invites ALL Bridge Valley Trailblazers to explore the wonders of science. The event kick-offs with a schoolwide assembly sponsored by the Home & School Association: “Fire & Ice” by MadScience on 3/21. Throughout the week students will then be invited with their class to participate in several, carefully constructed experiments developed by and executed by parent volunteers!
There are TWO ways you can get involved. First, consider making a donation by clicking here. The committee collects materials to perform the experiments and money to purchase/build those materials that aren’t readily available at a local store. Second, check your email for a SUG that will invite you to volunteer with your students’ classes. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in their education, meet their friends, and just have fun! All parent volunteers will have access to the experiments PRIOR to the event and will be supplied with EVERYTHING needed to assist. Thank you! We hope to see you at Science Alive.

Family Travel/Vacation Request Reminders
Please review the guidelines for family travel absence procedures as outlined in board policy 204:
- Parents/Guardians are required to notify the school at least three (3) days prior to the absences covered by this regulation so that the student may obtain work to keep current with class progress. Parents/Guardians can enter the request directly in Parent Portal.
- Parents/Guardians and students should be informed that make-up work for the time missed is the responsibility of the student.
- The principal may exercise approval for all such absences.
- Absences for approved reasons due to family travel shall be limited to two (2) occurrences each year. Total number of approved days of absence shall not exceed five (5) days in a given school year. Days exceeding these guidelines may be considered unlawful and/or unexcused.
REMINDER FOR VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES
The 2021-22 school year brings back opportunities to volunteer in school. If you have not already done so, please click here (https://www.cbsd.org/volunteers) to learn more about the process and requirements to volunteer in CBSD. New this year is the App Garden Volunteer Tracker (https://appgarden5.app-garden.com/VolTrackPA92102.nsf/VolApp.xsp), a contactless application and paperwork submission process. Sign-up is required for both new and returning volunteers.
Clearances expire five years after approval, so please check your CBSD Volunteer card to make sure yours are still current. If you have additional questions about volunteering in our district, please contact Florence at fhughes@cbsd.org or at 267-893-2086.
Thank you for supporting our staff and students by volunteering your time!
