News from the Principal's Office
A&M Consolidated High School
Reflections from the week of 2-20-17
Last Monday, our teachers and staff spent the day attending workshops centered on improving student engagement specifically learning Sketchnotes, creating higher order questions, integrating collaborative groups, understanding virtual reality, dealing with students in crisis, and brain based learning. Also, we had a group of students who shared their perspective on learning and the importance of having passionate, nurturing, teachers who are committed to building positive relationships. As well as teachers who design engaging, relevant lessons and who are committed to developing productive young men and women. Though our educational experiences may have consisted of the teacher being the “sage on the stage,” this practice is not conducive for students. Clearly, we must constantly explore practices where students are challenged, empowered, supported and connected to their work. Our students need us to be committed to them inside and outside the classroom.
Be what you expect to see in others and shine bright!
